Hopefully can avoid the upcoming time change arguments on here, but can we all agree it's ridiculous to do it after Halloween?

I mean literally, it was light here until just after 7:00. Half of trick or treating was done in the daylight. Trick or treating is supposed to be at night and it was until they pushed back to fall back to standard time back around 15 years ago.

Can we not just move it up a week to the weekend before Halloween? That way trick or treating is done at night again like it should be?

Move it to early October so you don't have 7 am sunrise.

Karen’s would freak out if something can remotely be interpreted as endangering their little monsters - even though kids Trick or Treated in the dark for decades.

I seem to recall that it did indeed used to be before Halloween but after Katrina the lawmakers changed it so there’s by a few extra longer days for cleanup.

I know I didn’t make it up because it did used to be dark for Halloween.

It's not due to Katrina. It was nationwide. I just checked and it was changed in 2007, so 17 years now.

It just seems so wrong to trick or treat in the daylight. When I was a kid trick or treating was absolutely at night, as it should be.

Changed in 2007

Yeah I just googled. I knew it was dark for so long on Halloween and then my kids were trick or treating in the damn daylight.

It's still not enough time to do really anything after work. Okay maybe you get 30 minutes to an hour after getting home instead of it being dark when you get home. It's not like you're going to get 9 holes in at the course or be able to go fishing (unless it's night fishing). You can mess with the time all you want, it doesn't change the fact that there just isn't as much light this time of year.

And would moving it up 1 single week really be that big of a deal? I'm not talking about moving it up 1 or 2 months.

Another reason that Bush ended up being such a disappointment while in office.

There are Zero reasons why Halloween isn’t the last Saturday in October.

I mean not really possible now that people insist on Christmas starting on November 1st. People will have Christmas decorations up by this weekend.

Take this year for example, would you have trick or treating on October 26th or November 2nd?

The only time it would possibly make sense would be when Halloween falls on a Sunday. Then I think holding it a day early on Saturday night makes sense.

Most people in our neighborhood waited until it was dark

Only tiny ones were out before the sun set, which I get because they get tired way earlier

I just wish my balls did not stick to my thighs from the humidity tonight

I will say we definitely got screwed since the last time Halloween was on a Saturday night was of course 2020 when there was hardly any trick or treating. 2015 was the last time we had a legitimate Friday or Saturday night Halloween. Looking forward to next year when it's Friday night.
