Putting this here instead of Tech because i think it fits...I've long had to move USB dongles to go from Xbox to PC, and i finally had one break..Looking for advice on a headset that can be used on a PC AND on my X...Everything i see requires using a dongle between the two and the TB 700s actually come with two dongles now, which might make the most sense...

Any other ideas in the under $300 range ?

ETA: Prefer wireless, not looking at opening a recording studio

These have been a Godsend for me, after using trash quote-unquote gaming headsets for years prior to getting these. I STILL use this pair, and Amazon says I purchased on November 4, 2020 - so 4 years in still good.

I attached this mic to it, which I am 99% positive I heard here as a recommendation.

Also got this mic November 8, 2020 per Amazon and still going strong.

I use SCgamecock2988's exact setup on PS5 and Series X and it's awesome, but obviously not wireless.

Yes, I pimped this setup on here for years and got a ton of posters to adopt it. It is the OG headset combo

The PC38X has since surpassed it though. The mic is far better and worth the upgrade alone

most wireless headsets <$300 are pretty shite, unfortunately. Worse sound, harder to drive, more costly due to wireless hardware,

If you are dead set on going the wireless route, the Audeze Maxwell is the clear winner for what you're asking for. The only other option I would consider is the Steel Series Arctis Pro. My buddy uses it and sounds good

Can a normal PS/Xbox controller drive the PC38X?

Yes, that's one of the reasons its so great. Not a demanding headset at all.

It's very well-built too. The raise-to-mute is very tactile and satisfying too LOL

on the list too, but they do the one dongle bit, so not sure how they connect back and forth to two platforms

I just went through this bc I wanted wireless for Xbox. I bought a Steelseries 7x nova and Astro A50 (non Logitech). 7x mic sounds nasally and the clamping is odd feeling. You can’t use Sonar on console. A50s are way more comfortable and the mic is way better. They have issues though like a constant high pitch sound (low volume though) and the software is a little funky but I’ve been enjoying them. Got them at $180. Looked at the Audeze but they also seem to have issues according to their forum and are very heavy relative to others.

I have dedicated Sennheisers for my PC setup so I don’t need to swap.

I don’t like completely isolated sound bc I’m used to open backs. I like the ability to hear if kids wake up or if wife wants to talk to me without taking it off.

eta: Couldn't take the tinnitus sound from left ear cup, I'm returning the A50s. Shame bc I really liked them. Ended up trying the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3s and they are really really good. Multi connection, Can listen to bluetooth and game audio at the same time, Mic got improved over firmware, app is amazing and smooth, tons of controls, and very well built. I know Turtle Beach had a bad rep but these are nice and well built.

Use these as well and they’re very solid. Lots of different settings/presets in the pc app to play around with to get your sound right in anything.
