How well do wifi extenders/booster work?

I’m trying to stream games on my back porch but my wifi signal is pretty weak out there. I thought about putting a booster in my sunroom to help with that. I’m just not sure if it would help with getting wifi outside. The little bit I have read on them, no one has really mentioned them improving Wi-Fi signal outside the home. I just don’t want to waste my money on one if it’s not going to help.

I needed better wifi in my garage and installed an access point over trying a booster. It has been very good ever since. Maybe that is an option for you to look into.

I have Erro mesh system and it works great. I can stream hdtv about 100ft in my backyard where the pool is.

Look at a mesh system. I have the google mesh and it's great. We have four of the pucks and have no issues with weak signals. We have a decent size house 5k sq feet.

Id look into a better router first if your home is under 4000 ft or so, its likely you can find a router that's strong enough. Beyond that, I'd go with a Mesh system.
Boosters do work well but don't really extend you THAT far, the booster is best to be placed where the signal is still reasonably strong to boost it further including your weaker signal to stronger, not just no signal to some signal.
