No that’s EXACTLY what you want if you have good tacklers (there’s our problem)

Nope. The problem was our players simply kept going for the RB every play and refused to tackle or spy the QB even though he kept it almost every time. Teach Savion Jones to not tackle someone without the ball and we should be fine.

Spying the QB on run plays literally does nothing. They will be blocked by the lineman...now crashing the backside end and sending the linebacker or nickel to replace the end to take the QB/Contain is one of the most successful ways to stop the Zone Read. But spying the QB is not going to do any good in running situations. The lineman get up to the second level and take them out of the play.

They weren't going to try and do this before? Bama and every other team we play wasn't going to do try and do that anyway?

The only thing that happened Saturday is we didn't gameplan correctly. We have TWO WEEKS to plan for Milroe and it's well documented what he does.

We still might lose but we're not going to lack preparation. I like our chances in DV at night.

To be fair, the play you’re referring to was masterfully executed by the QB. The RB was well past the mesh point when he pulled the ball back and ran it. A lot of times that results in a fumble. I hated the result but it was very well executed.

I remember when LSU prepped for the bowl game against GA Tech (triple option at the time, I believe), they practiced without a ball so the players would cover assignments and not the ball.

Well he's got 2 weeks to figure out how to stop Milroe.

Hit the QB every Read option play regardless of whether he keeps the ball or not.

Before the Reed kid even subbed into the game LSU was giving up like 6 yards a carry. They just couldn't stop the run at all that game. Surprised A&M didn't run it more in the first half.

Bingo! Just make sure it isn't late hits. But, yes, one guy "(DE or OLB) should be targeting the QB on every read option. Let the other guy's (DT, Safety, Linebacker) handle the RB

We just don't do our jobs. We try to do the other guy's job and be a hero.

Two complete BK recruiting and NIL cycles and we are still this thin at the LOS. Both sides. We can’t run or stop the run. Weak.
