back in 2016 i was in SF for a weekend and got tickets to see the TFB at phil's venue in marin. we didnt know what to expect, it turns out to be a room the size of a standard residential living area, maybe 50 ppl in there in front of a small stage 6" off the ground.
i spent two/half hours standing 6 feet from phil, soaking up those bass bombs and dancing like a fool. what a night

These are fantastic. He looks old here but I guess that is because he was. Glad I got out to see him when he played here last year.

Terrapin Station was the name of the venue that Lesh owned and operated. Later, he had his son run it until it was sold.
Lesh played in the jazz band at San Mateo Collage, but wasn’t that skilled of a viola/trumpet player to play professionally. He turned to rock, picking up the bass at 24.
