Another Hot Take (I’m ready to be hurt again): George Lynch has the best guitar tone…

…of any rock guitarist I’ve ever heard. I know that naming someone as being the best guitarist or having the best tone is akin to saying that my grandmother is a better cook than your grandmother, so this is just my humble opinion.

Just off the top of my head in the same genre, I prefer Zakk Wylde.

John Petrucci takes the cake for me, especially his lead tone. Something about a Mesa Boogie just does it.

I don't think it gets any better than Eddie's Brown Sound

Do you prefer his brown sound over the Van Hagar era tone? I love both.

Absolutely love Lynch's tone, but the best studio tone for rock for me is Slash on Appetite for Destruction. The guitars on that album are just a perfect rock tone IMHO.

Billy Gibbons comes to mind when we talk about tone. He can get clean and muddy but it’s top notch IMO.

Back for the Attack is one of the greatest albums of the era. His tone & riff on Kiss of Death is just legendary.

Here's a new song for a one-off release. Pretty straight forward rock, but it's classic George. Not a bad solo for a 70-year old, either:

Billy Corgan on Siamese dreams is my favorite guitar tone ever.
