First time at a Saints game

I’ll be going to my first game on Sunday. I’m old enough to just barely remember them announcing the Brees signing. Company has a couple extra tickets that got offered to me and a coworker. Any tips on game day itself? I’m sure traffics bad but I’m trying to get a gauge. I’ll be coming from Lafayette and plan on leaving around 8-8:30. I really don’t even know where to park. TIA

Just my opinion…
8:00 is probably too late if you want to walk around and see the Dome and surrounding area before the game (assuming it takes you two hours to get there from Lafayette). If you just want to get there, park and walk in, 8:00 should be ok assuming no accidents on any bridge.
I’m not a fan of Champions Square pre-game. It’s basically a big Bud Light conference with musical acts and genres I couldn’t care less about. But it is there if you want to see it.
I usually try to get in the dome by 11:15 so I can get my kid some food, get to my seats, and to see warmups and player intros. Sometimes earlier if I need to pick up a gift from pro-shop. It also depends on where your seats are. Uppers will take you a bit longer to get to obviously.
I now fly in, but I used to park in the dome. Not sure if thats still an option. It was pricey, but I was always able to get in and out fairly easily and never had a busted window when I came back. I’m sure other folks will better ideas though.
Have fun!

When i had season tickets I left Raceland at 8 to get to the dome for 9:30ish.
Stop at Franks for a Bloody Mary
I would park streetside on Baronne, it's a little walk but rarely any traffic getting out, go under the overpass, hang a left and you on Hwy 90 westbound heading back towards Lafayette.
For pregame, depending who I was with is what we would do. Sometimes watch Bobby Heberts pregame show for a little while, go see the Saints Hall Of Fame, hang out in Champion Square and listen to the bands. Go watch the pregame warm-ups. I always liked to be in my seat at least by 11:30 just to watch the stadium fill up and watch the Dome come alive.

Tried and True....
Park at LSU Med Center parking lot on Poydras. ( LINK) $30. 5 min walk. Gated. Security. Super easy exit to I-10
Get there by 10am or earlier for ample spots and lots of time to walk around.

This.
Car, traffic, other drivers can slow a day right down. If you get in too early it's just more time to talk, party, eat and drink too much!

Need to leave by 7:30am if you want good parking selection. Dome parking not worth the ridiculous price and aggravation. Plenty of alternatives around.
