What are y’all’s favorite grunt calls and why?

Not sure any of the call companies makes a bad grunt call. I’ve normally used a Primos but have a new Woodhaven this year.

I use a woodhaven whitetail ninja “the intimidator”. The one with the flexible tube. I’ve never had much luck calling deer in Louisiana, but I’ve called in a couple in Missouri. Last year on my last day I called in a nice 10pt with a grunt/rattle sequence, he came to about 60 yards and was looking for “the deer” that made the noise. When he turned and started walking away I grunted then followed with a snort wheeze, he wheeled around and trotted down the opposite creek bank looking hard to my side. Closest he got was 53 yards which is beyond my range. This year I’ll have a decoy for sure.

Bone collector that looks like a deer antler.
It’s a grunt, bleat and snort wheeze.
I have used all three to call in or stop deer and kill them.

The long flexible quacker boy grunt call. It’s the most realistic sounding one I’ve ever tried. Never seen one in a store though, will probably have to order it.

Two years ago during the rut I grunted all morning. Beautiful morning. Could have sat out there all day.
Had to go back to camp to meet the electrician at 8:30am so I got down from my stand and slowly walked back. Grunting the whole way
I hear a rustle in the woods to my right and there was a 7 year old 8 point stomping at me from about 150 feet away.
He charged at me
I shot him dead in the brisket (don’t know how I scoped him moving so fast) and he fell about 20 feet from me at the edge of the woods. I was in the middle of the road.
Moral of the story:
The rut is crazy. Makes bucks crazy. Be careful if grunting on the ground.

X2 on Haydels… while it will freeze in cold temps, there isn’t a better otc plastic grunt call. My current favorite is Houndstooth cherry wood. I personally don’t like loud super deep grunts so that’s just my personal preference.

The one I found while ducking hunting Ouachita WMA in N. LA. I must have been 12-13yo at the time, now nearing 40. I've used it ever since. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm not sure if it has a brand name on it. I also have a buck roar (primos, maybe?) w/snort wheeze, which works at times.
I use a grunt call often, especially during the rut. Late season, when bucks are cruising for that one last hot doe, it can make all the difference in the world. It never seems to hurt as uninterested deer pay it no attention. But when it works, it is a thing of beauty.
Happy hunting.

60% of the time it works everytime lol.
I have blown on one more than Louis Armstrong on a trumpet. I have seen deer just ignore it and I have killed several (120-130s) that I know for a fact was either coming to the grunt or turned and investigated just enough for me to get a shot.
And for people scared to use one I was sold on using them even early when I watched three young bucks pushing each other around and get fired up when one of them snort wheezed and started grunting and clicking. This was area 4 bucks in muzzleloaders season acting like Midwest bucks prime rut!!
