The US armed forces ground combat units are built on strong NCOs. Almost no other military (especially old caste system Euro-based ones) do this.
They probably saw their units were crumbling at the ground level by putting undeserving idiots in those roles. That's how you destroy the morale of your combatants.

PS, they're also doing this because they know they are about to be in a hot war in the next 2 yrs. This is s a good thing, but it should actually terrify every American. When shite starts to get real, the fantasy land BS goes out the window.

First order of business in a hot zone is to send the pink paratroopers in first to molest the enemy combatants and spread Monkeypox and other social diseases amongst them. That should take care of our Rainbow Divisions and strike terror into the heart of our enemies in a single operation.

I remember how fast we turned it around and were able to whip troops into shape after Carter, when Ronnie took over.
We were ready to stomp arse by '82 when I was an NCO of the Year at Bragg.
Now, given, we were not having to deal with trannies and DEI and fat fricking recruits at the time. I still speak, often, with quite a few of my old CSM buddies and we all pretty much agree that things are very bad right now in terms of light and heavy infantry combat readiness.

We were more than capable, from a personnel and equipment perspective, to stomp arse. Where we failed was from EXACTLY the same direction, for EXACTLY the same reasons, of which we are failing today.
I encourage everyone to read a series of pamphlets printed by the John Birtch Society in 1962 titled "One Dozen Candles."
It predicted everything that happened in Vietnam, everything that is now happening in Europe and everything that is now happening in our United States of America which, in fact, is no longer united.
"United" being the key word.
