need thread started per Chicken’s request.
Had he played a full season at the rate he’d played for a little over half the season…
These stats would be his
18-5
1.99 ERA
204 innings
256 strikeouts
0.984 WHIP

The Pirates guaranteed Skenes couldn’t win a Cy Young with his late call up.

And Livvy hasn't stolen his manhood unlike Tswift did with Kelce.

He’s climbing the list of greatest living Americans

Kelce looks fat, slow and out of shape.

While it would be cool if Skenes won RoY, I still think Jackson Merrill deserves it over him. He and Profar carried the Padres offense when others were out injured and the Padres are going to the playoffs because of it.
Skenes is just on a shite team and should have more wins than he has.

I tend to agree in theory but the ROY is not the same as the "most valuable" rookie. It goes to the "most outstanding" rookie. I think under that criteria you should probably award it to Skenes but I do think a lot of voters will choose the player who was more valuable in terms of contributions like they do with the MVP award.

FIFY.
I think the list is:
Trump
Tom Brady
Paul Skenes
Javier Milei
Gary Sinise.
Likely in that order though I’m willing to be swayed to have Skenes higher

go watch the money game, at one point Skenes looked exasperated with Livvy and Livvy's sister is a piece of work

These dumb attention whore high maintenance chicks are going to eventually wear on any dude.
Not worth the excitement of the first 12 months or so to deal with their bullshite long term.

I'd personally vote for Skenes and that's not just LSU homerism. If you asked any MLB team in a vacuum whether they'd want 22 games of Skenes' production or 151 games of Merrill's production they're taking Skenes 30 times out 30. Merrill has had a fantastic rookie season, but Skenes has been better.

starting pitching is at a premium in MLB right now
Merrill is a dime a dozen prospect

Under what? According to the advanced stats on Baseball Reference, Skenes has been the more valuable player.
Skenes has a better RAA, WAA, RAR, and a 6 WAR compared to Merrill’s 4.3
*I see that fangraphs has Skenes with a lower WAR than Merrill: 4.2 vs 5.1 for Merrill

On Fansgraph. BaseballReference has Skenes 1.7 WAR ahead of Merrill.
Maybe I am biased, I just think that what Skenes has done is way more impressive than what Merrill has done, even adjusting for the fact that Skenes only did it for 2/3rds of the season.
If I was a GM and you offered me 24 home runs and a .292/.326/.503 (128 OPS+) slashline for 151 games or 167 strikeouts, a 1.99 ERA (213 ERA+) and a 0.962 WHIP for 22 starts I'm taking Player B. Players with a season like Merrill's don't exactly grow on trees, but those guys are out there. Skenes' production has been on another level (even if it wasn't for a full season).
