Got the email today that they are now accepting holiday orders for cheese, for any of you wanting to get your cheese for the holidays.

Yum! One of the nice things at my university. Another is Muscadine Ice Cream, from the same place that sells the cheese if you are ever on campus. Just across the street from the back lot of Dorman. Useless fact, that is where all of my Biochemistry classes were held.
Good memories of learning the many steps of glycolysis and the pentose-phosphate shunt, neither of which I have ever used. Also, learning the importance of NAD and ATP involvement in the myoneural junction, which is also useless information someone got a lot of research money to document.

Learned about it here last year and placed an order.
The Jalapeno Spread was great. It took us so long to eat all of the big hunks of Vallagret (thought it was just okay) and the Edam (very good), that I worried the Spread would be moldy or bad by the time I opened it. Nope, it was good to go some months after we received it, and it stayed fresh for the couple of weeks it took us to work through the tub.
Just ordered more Jalapeno Spread, Cheddar, and Edam. Shipping was $25 (ouch), but I figure it's just once a year and for good products.
First ship date is Nov. 4.

My dad used to do a massive order for all his customers every Christmas. He’s retired now but some old customers he knows now order it themselves.
That cheese is damn good and our ice cream is very solid as well.
I know there are other colleges that make cheese (wazzu, Wisconsin) I’d love to try them all

How on earth?
It’s one of the best cheeses made in America to me. I think it’s best at room temperature.

I didn't respond to that comment because what I like may be garbage to others, but I think it is the best cheese they make, and I really like edam, so that makes the vallagret a really nice white to me.
I guess to each his own. Also more Vallagret for me.

My best friends dad graduated with a biochem degree from state. I guess he is about 70. From reading, I think you may be a bit older than him.

Ask him if he knew Dr Kennedy (on my committee) and Dr. Wilson. They should have been there after I left. He would have known Dr. Barker in Chemistry Dept, too. Maybe "Chicken" Thomas in Genetics, Dept, a few buildings west of Dorman.
