Am I off base here? They haven’t beaten LSU since 2018. That streak includes some really bad LSU teams. Even the games being at the swamp doesn’t seem to intimidate LSU like it once did. I’m not arguing that Florida is no longer a rival I’m just saying as of late that game just doesn’t move the needle anymore.

A&M has replaced Florida as “that team” on our schedule. Especially on the road considering we haven’t won there since 2016.

Side note: sucks that Auburn isn’t on the schedule anymore but has Oklahoma become the new Auburn game for LSU? That’s what it is feeling like.

I do love how now that Florida stinks they are suddenly not our permanent opponent

(I will love that when they fire Sunbelt Billy and hire Dan Lanning though)

They're still a marquee program, it hasn't been bad enough for LONG enough to knock them down a tier.

What sucks is that they became our rival out of all the other East teams when they were at their peak. Now they're slipping and we have zero guarantees of playing them every year.

LSU has always had a tougher road than most when it comes to SEC scheduling. Just the way it is.

Florida is still a sleeping giant if they could hire the right coach
I'm not complaining they've messed that up more times then not the last decade

I'd argue Auburn has clearly had it worse since the emergence of UGA as a top power. They played the same SEC West schedule and had UGA as a permanent opponent. Tough to argue that anyone has had it tougher in conference than they have over the last 5 years.

From 2012 to 2023 sure but not anymore. We got gifted a very easy schedule this season and next season.

SC (last week was not indicative of how good this program is going forward)
Vandy (goes without saying)

The 3 toughest SEC games are at home. We somehow avoided 3 out of the best teams in Tennessee, Georgia and Texas in 24 and 25. I’d say we got a good slate.

You don’t want to lose to Florida ever.

It’s still marquee to me.

Oh easily. Tennessee also has Georgia and Bama every year as permanent opponents though.

Until we are not almost losing to SC every game is marquee.

Florida is a few more bad seasons away from that rivalry to be pushed down a tier with the ole Miss and Arkansas games.

Still a rivalry but doesn’t have the juice

With what Kiffin has been able to do with Ole Miss, he could prob do what Urban did at Florida. I hope he stays at Ole Piss

Would you have said that LSU isn't a marquee game for Alabama when they were beating us every year?

How many of those years was it not a top 25 matchup. Most of those times it was still a top 15 matchup and LSU was still a good program compared to where Florida is at now.

Do you not see how bad Florida is? They’re horrible and have been horrible for YEARS

Man I don’t know. Part of me thinks it’s no brainer but part of me also thinks Florida isn’t some destination job like it’s supposed to be.

Recruiting there is tough. Do they even have deep pockets like we’d assume? Big expectations unlike Ole Miss who is just happy to be relevant.

If lane comes there and doesn’t win 10 games in year one they are doubting him already.

I mean it’s tough to say we need to stop playing Florida because they suck then suggest bringing Auburn back.

It’s gotten a little tougher with Miami & UGA, but yes they have deeper pockets than Ole Miss & he has spent plenty there

I mean the past two years sure. In 2021 they were ranked 20th, in 2020 they were ranked 6th, in 2019 they were ranked 7th.
