Flight Conundrum

Seeing if anyone has a solution. We caught a good deal on a fare and booked the following multi-city flight:
MSY->LON
LON->DUB
DUB->MSY
We decided we want to stay an extra night in London but in order to reschedule that middle leg of the flight, British Airways has to rebook the whole trip and the prices on the longer legs (not the flight I want to reschedule) have doubled since I purchased. I offered to give them back their LON->DUB (we have 6 tickets) fares and repurchase that portion separate. Basically, giving them back 6 tickets that they can resell and then buying 6 more from them. They couldn't do that and said that if I skipped my middle leg of the flight, then my return flight would be cancelled. If anyone has any ideas to get around the red tape, it would be greatly appreciated.

There really is no way around it. This is in place to stop "skip lag".
Only thing you can do is ask BA to move the LHR-DUB leg over a day and pay the fare difference.
I am assuming you are flying MSY-LHR on BA.
What you could do is buy a MSY-LHR-MSY round trip then a LCY/STN/LHR-DUB round trip on Ryan Air seperately.

That may be the intent, but we booked as a multi-city trip. We're staying a night in London. It's not part of a connection.

The MSY-LHR is what doubled in price.

Can you change the ticket once you've flown msy-lhr?
Also when are these flights?

Sometimes you get lucky and get an airline rep on the phone who is willing to help you. I’ve had good luck making changes at the airport on the day of the flight especially in one of the airline lounges.

Yea, I’m thinking I probably could but with 4 kids, we’d like to have our lodging squared away before we leave. Leaving on NYE.

Can you try pricing it by leaving MSY a day earlier? I’ll sure the lodging in london will be a kick in the nuts. Have you thought about canceling the itinerary altogether and just rebooking on JetBlue via JFK or BOS? It seems 30% cheaper than BA/UA (I only priced MSY to LHR, not the rest.)

You didn't say why you wanted to spend an extra night in London, so I have no idea if this is helpful, but if it's for a specific event, you could make it work by purchasing a RT ticket from DUB to LON.
In 2017, I found a shockingly good price on a business-class flight on TAP flying OSL-LIS-BOS. The only problem was that I was already going to be in Lisbon, not Oslo. So, I simply got a seat on the LIS-OSL flight right before the same plane returned to LIS. In OSL, I got off the plane and walked right back on.
So, if the flight deal that you got was good enough, and you want the extra night in London for a specific event like a play on West End, then you could simply take your already scheduled flight to DUB and then fly right back to LON (no luggage required!) and then fly on to DUB on your new ticket the following day.

I think that’s our only option. It’s frustrating because I’m willing to give those tickets back to them with no refund but b/c of their lack of ability to make a decision that benefits both them and their customer, we’d have to go through that racket…..with 4 children.
