Remember when Ty Davis-Price ran all over Florida for 36 caries for 287 yards.

LSU was struggling to run the ball until Jack Marucci looked into the strengths of each lineman and recommended certain run blocking.
Can we try this again?

Offensive line pulls a complete 180 Any criticism of this LSU offensive line was fair through five games. LSU averaged 2.91 yards per carry. It ranked No. 88 nationally in pressure allowed. LSU lost to Auburn because it couldn’t trust itself to run against a three-man box. It was the least successful offensive line anybody had seen for decades in Baton Rouge. And much like Davis-Price, it ended up having one of the best run blocking performances in recent memory. The holes it created were massive. It pass-protected well. Everything came together as this line went from the glaring weakness holding LSU back to its sudden strength.

Some of it was strategy. Staffers inside the program wondered about Peetz’ ability to scheme the run game well and set it up for success. There was a noticeable difference Saturday, with LSU putting Florida on its heels. It ran more counters and pulling plays and often gained leverage in ways it hadn’t before. A part of this may have come from a former athletic trainer. Davis-Price told reporters that Jack Marucci — the revered LSU trainer who now focuses on sports science and performance innovation — did some research and helped Peetz and company change some things. “He went up to the coaches, just showing them a few of our formations and just telling them what runs would be best for certain people and creating better blocking schemes for the O-line,” Davis-Price said. “As you could tell, it worked.” Credit to the players, too. Veteran guard Ed Ingram has uncharacteristically struggled all season, and Saturday he dominated matchups like the guy LSU once called its best linemen. Tackles Anthony Bradford and Cam Wire continue to add a boost now that they’re healthy. Center Liam Shanahan is most common LSU player brought to speak with the media. Every week, he’s insisted LSU’s line was close to breaking through. “I’ve been saying that we’ve definitely had our struggles, but it felt like we’ve been right there,” a vindicated Shanahan said, “so to put it together today with a performance like that running the ball, it feels great.”

I'm no coach, but even I saw the opportunity for counters, especially against the run blitz of USC.

Seems like LSU is only running inside zone and Duo and I guess I just don’t understand not having more run concepts available

I remember that and knew immediately that coaches are morons when the sports data / sports equipment / non-coach guy has to make an observation that vastly improves an aspect of the team from an X's and O's standpoint.
None of the coaches on the team being collectively paid millions figured it out even though that's supposedly their specialty.

Todd Grantham and that Florida defense was a special kind of bad that year too. Didn't Samford score like 40+ on Florida in the 1st half that year?

Probably not a coincidence that LSU decided to part ways with Orgeron less than 24 hours later.

Ah, Pootz, wasn't he swell?
What are the analysts for? Shouldn't they be uncovering some of this shite?

LSU was struggling to run the ball
LSU finished 13th in the SEC in both rushing / game (114) and YPC (3.3!). Mike Leach’s State was 14th which doesn’t really even count
If you remove that game LSU averaged 97 rushing yards a game. Just an absolute travesty of an offense
