USC has legit shot at the playoff

Not sure how good they are, but their schedule is very manageable. Barring a major upset, four games left that could go either way. @Michigan @ Washington. They get Penn St. and ND at home. Split those and go 10-2 and I bet they let them in.

USC still has major gaps on the lines that show up over time when you start to have injuries.
They need to pay D’Anton Lynn any amount of money he wants not to leave. Pay him HC money.

No the B1G isn’t as soft as LSU. LSU shot themselves in the foot multiple times last night.

It's not that hard to make a 12 team playoff. I think they're in. Schedule isn't bad, already started off with a decent win.

I don’t think USC or LSU will make the playoffs. My prediction. USC isn’t great and will lose games. LSU is lucky to have big games in Tiger Stadium, but I don’t see them winning them all.

I think they go 9-3. The hardest games they play on that schedule are @Michigan and Penn State. Might count ND as a loss as well

Home Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Rutgers and @Minnesota and @Maryland aren’t massive gimmes. We’ll see if having to fly back and forth across the country has any impact on USC in October too.
The formula for just making the playoff as a power program in the SEC or B1G is gonna be avoid upsets and go .500 or better in your toss ups.

I think LSU’s schedule is pretty favorable. I think they still go 9-3 which has a shot at getting in.

Depends on how Rhule does his second year. Nebraska and Maryland could absolutely put USC on upset alert.

For other sports I can see it, but for Football, I don't really think so. Unless they're flying to Hawaii or Ireland I think they'll be fine.
If the USC defense actually holds up throughout the year, they'll be a dark horse for the playoff.

Michigan didn’t look like a top 10 team. They lost something like 16 starters from last year’s squad.

100% and I would love for that to be the case the whole year but how much of that is due to week one struggles (new guys getting minutes, Moore dialing in new playcalls)? If they get routed by Texas next week, then they're on shaky ground.

I don't think so. ND is as overrated a team as there is in the country. I believe SC wins that game pretty easily in the Coliseum.
Likewise Penn State isn't a great team in October/ November away from Happy Valley. Washington isn't a juggernaut this season either, but that's a road game for SC and could be a loss.
The only game that's generally considered a loss for Lincoln Riley is @ Michigan in a couple weeks. And even that game in The Big House isn't ideal for Mich. The Trojans enjoy a BYE WEEK ADVANTAGE over the Wolverines the weekend before that game-- not insignificant.

Their defense played well and their offense picked it up in the fourth. They play a cupcake schedule, but other than that, what I saw yesterday made them look legit.

It all depends on SC's defense. If they play decent, they'll win. If they play like they did in '22 and '23, they'll lose. They showed that they couldn't really push around LSU in the trenches, so what makes you think that they'll push ND?
I already know that USC has a great offense, but i'm not sold on Riley. He doesn't show up for these games. I could very well see a SC loss to ND.

Meh. Washington is rebuilding and USC is more talented. I can see USC winning by 7+.

We'll wait and see then. If Michigan plays like they did against Fresno State, that'll be a USC win. But it's the Big House, and like you said about Washington, it's a road game with a hostile crowd.
My point is simple, USC proved that they can win the big games but can they continue on doing that or become fraudulent along the way. Knowing Riley, I'm more inclined to the latter rather than the former.

Well they won, but that's it. A&M is not a good football team, and haven't been since their 10-1 campaign in the pandemic year
