Apple has a new limited series coming out next month based on the 2015 novel DISCLAIMER* by Renee Knight. It received rave reviews after it premiered last week at the Venice Film Festival. The award-winning cast, including Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, rivals that of Borderlands. Oh, and it’s written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men, Roma), so my expectations are high. Very high.

quote:

When an intriguing novel appears at the bedside of a journalist whose career has been built on revealing transgressions, she is horrified to realize she's a key character in a long-buried story, one that exposes her darkest secret.

I look forward to watching the AppleTV+ library in a few years after they've folded.

They primarily make shows for adults, so I doubt you’ll find much content that suits you.

One day, after some streaming service people actually pay for ends up with their library, I'll let you know.

Currently, anything on the platform is completely irrelevant.

Translation: they don’t have any superhero content

If you think that's why AppleTV+ is failing, fine with me. I think it's because they have done an absolutely terrible job of advertising it but you do you.

I don’t. I think it’s the reason you aren’t interested in their content. If only they were throwing out bangers like Dailywire+, but I guess they would have to raise their price to match.

DailyWire has great content, but it comes out slow. Part of the reason I subscribe to that is because I want more conservative entertainment. AppleTV has no such thing going for it

At least you can pinpoint why nobody takes your opinions seriously.

All you did here is prove you've watched nothing on DailyWire. Every movie or show I've watched on there is great. The BentKey kids app has shows my kids enjoy as well.

The irony of you bringing up DW+ is I'm sure they would love to buy some of the AppleTV+ content when it inevitably fails.

What a weird attack on Apple

Easy to make a strong case that ATV+ has the highest hit rate of any original content producer right now

The first 2 episodes were good. The narrator sounds more like she is doing director commentary while watching it. Hard to hear it at times.

I have not read book, but if it was an accident the parents seem pretty vindictive. But since the son seems to think the character in book is a horrible person who deserves to die there must more to their kid’s death than having affair with him and then denying she knew him at the time (book was also written by depressed and angry parents after the fact so who knows).

Young Catherine (Leila George) looked very hot on the beach especially while asking about what he was going to do with her pictures and the aura he mentioned.

I just finished the first two episodes and thought it was really well done. Beautifully shot so far and great acting all around. That beach scene perfectly captured young Catherine with the sun. Kline is particularly good and it’s always odd to see SBC in a normal role. The star of the show is the cat though.

I haven’t read the book either. Based on the conversation Catherine had with Jonathan’s mother, it seems Jonathan died saving Nicholas. Drowning in the sea would be my guess and might explain why he seems a bit slow. Like you said, I don’t see how they can hold her responsible based on just that though. Looking forward to the remaining 5 episodes.

Doubt it, but they're not going to keep propping up AppleTV forever. I'm looking forward to watching all of the AppleTV content when it's sold to a different streaming service.

Did Catherine say something like she wished her son had died when walking out of that meeting/conversation?

Jonathan’s mom - “He saved your son.”
Catherine - “Well, I wish he hadn’t.”

It's pretty simple, he's an idiot. That and too cheap to actually pay for another service so just pretends he doesn't based on content.

You're right, it for sure has the highest hit rate right now. They are awful at promoting their shows but most of the time, they are quality shows.
