I kinda like that they have made him earn it in fall camp. He’s made it clear that he has been the main playmaker on defense, and he’s been rewarded. I hope he can bring back the tradition of 7 being an absolute dawg on defense.

With Williams receiving the 18 and Perkins earning the 7, I have a good feeling about this season. I feel like this could be a year like 2006/2007 team.

I’d like to add that both starting LBs getting #7 and #18 makes me feel pretty good. Baker turned a lost Damone Clark into a stud. Baker turning Perk loose and making Penn into a good SEC linebacker could really cover up a lot of holes on this defense.
