My wife got tickets for the Chris Stapleton concert Saturday night. We decided to make a week out of it and booked a house on the beach in Sea Isle. My 14 year old son is ready to fish. Any recommendations on where to take him ? We will have croakers and cracked crab.

Surf has been really good when it is flat since July. Not sure what the forecast is but if looks decent, I would hit the surf. My typical go to spot is actually across the ferry in the Boliver Pocket. Just be cared for rays and if you use a donut, be mindful of sharks.

Went to surfside the last 2 weekends and wasnt great but caught 5-10 trout each morning.
2 weeks ago started catching as soon as I got out of the truck on topwater in the first gut. It shut off after about 30 minutes and couldnt find them again other than a couple stragglers here and there.
From what i've noticed, Surfside water tends to be a little cleaner and deeper compared to the other side of Jetties to the east and west. Have done well on Quintana beach in the past too but its stained right now from the Brazos runoff.

The surf is back to normal summer pattern (choppy and getting brownish), and likely will be worse by Saturday. Cracked crab on the bottom might get you some redfish. If your rental gives you access, the Sea Isle pier at night is your best bet. You can also wade in at the base of the pier and fish the flats on the west side of Sea Isle. Its solid sand bottom for the most part. Throw a top water at dawn and go to the live croakers an hour later.
EDIT
They just wrapped up a remodel of the marina bar/restaurant last winter. The food there is the best on the west end. It is kid friendly with a pool table/game room and a good place to catch games.

Use extreme caution if wading around SL pass... people drown there every summer. It can have a swift current.

There's a jetty at the end of the blue water hwy going south.
Surfside Jetty County Park - If you can find a spot and throw live croker or cracked crab you could catch Reds, Trout etc
check the slot limit.
Look at a google map, we used to fish Christmas bay a lot with live shrimp under a popping cork and do well

Yes. I fish the backside guts 90% of the time. The sand will just erode from you feet in a strong tide

We stayed out of the water. The tide was ripping and we didn’t have life jackets
Kinda cool that you ride the different sand trails to go to different spots.
Didn’t catch anything but going to try again tomorrow morning. We got there too late today.
