That’s gonna be super nice! I’ll be following this build. Any leads on a pecan slab at least 26” wide?

Looks like the live edge is pretty cleaned up of bark, so that's one less step you need to undertake except to make sure it's pristine before doing the epoxy.

Would love to see it wet just a bit to really make the grain pop since it's looking pretty plain gray in that pic.

That first pic is showing 4 slabs stick stacked-------is it all yours or just the top slab and you're at the dealer taking pics?

Did you flatten it with a router sled rig?

Mines the top one. I didn’t need to wet it. I’ve seen Mappa Burl. It’s fine! Only one more sought after is maple Burl imo

Got ya. I've got a homemade flattening jig for my router that works, but some of those metal ones on bearings are nice but expensive.

Yup, those are awesome and cut your flattening time down big time.

Used one on a friend's 12' river table last year and it saved so much time.

Yep. I'm always interested in woodworking projects. I have some furniture and cabinets to build and aomw other stuff. I've got the ok from the wife to overhaul my woodworking power tools. I do a lot of hand work with planes, dovetail, etc.

But I want to outfit my shop with professional/industrial level machines and over the next year, I'll be doing that. I have talked my wife into being able to budget close to 17k for new table saw, planer and jointer. Once I get those in place, I have my eyes on a Laguna band saw.

You can def outfit your shop with a 17K budget. Assuming you're looking at a cabinet saw? If I had a bigger footprint, I'd buy a sawstop today no question. I got into woodworking pretty hard in 2019 and now build cabinets and tables and the occasional chair. Tons of xmas gifts too like boxes or charcuterie boards etc b/c it's fun and people actually like and more importantly, use the gift

I have one of these, it's a money and space saver. Plus, I love larger jointer capacity.

You can get this, a sawstop, laguna band saw, and a Onefinity Journeyman CNC, all for 19K

What are you going to do? Rip it down the middle and flip the straight edges out and epoxy the middle?

Here’s updates on the table. I decided on using a wire brush wheel to strip the bark off the live edge without taking off much wood. Worked great. Just have to smooth it out sanding it by hand. Buddy had a Festool saw with guides which saved me big time. Still stressful cutting down the middle knowing any screw up would be disastrous. Noticed once I cut it in half one side is warped a good bit so I’ll have to bring it get planed and take off more wood than I’d prob like but it shouldn’t be a big deal. I’ll wait till after planing to use a dremel tool to work on the small holes along the grain.

What color epoxy are you planning to use to fill the gap?

I prefer live edges to be on the outside, but in your situation, it would look silly to have a straight line running down the middle of the slab.

Can't wait to see the finished product.
