Info on defense

just posting what I’ve gathered from a friend of mine who’s on staff as a grad assistant. Ashton stamps will be an all sec caliber player, pj woodland has the most upside and don’t be surprised if he doesn’t start day 1. If not, he will be in the CB rotation. Kid has a bright future. Also Dashawn spears may take the other position at safety for week 1. Just passing along what I’ve gathered. After hearing this, I really think the secondary is going to be better than everyone thought. Defensive line will be the issue on defense, need some younger guys to mature fast.
Also @ProjectP2294 we had two corners start as freshman in 2019. Season turned out pretty good. And yes cordalle flott was a freshman. Did he start? No he didn’t but he was a key piece and was #3 in that rotation

apparently everyone is getting juked out of their shoes, therefore we shall suck again!

seems like stamps has had a strong offseason in general. Excited to see what he does this year the kid has the athleticism and size

If PJ Woodland is legit better than a healthy Zy Alexander, then that’s a good thing. Glad to hear Stamps has improved since last year - I’ve been told that’s impossible & we should expect same results as last year

The guy getting juked out of his shoes by a freshman TE?
Posted on 8/5/24 at 2:37 pm to Buga225
Have you asked him about one on ones today?

You mean the all state basketball player who’s 6ft 6. And runs a 4.5. Yea Taylor
Is first string, but cmon brother he’s not juking out anyone. Greens athletic ability is unmatched. Bad comp, treydez is an outlier. He’s probably cooking every safety we have

Treydez is the best TE on roster and it’s not close

Two freshmen starting week 1 doesn't really make me think this.

So the old guys suck?

Delpit started as a freshman and was a beast. These statements aren’t always true my man, you play the best talent regardless of class. Did you not watch our secondary last year?

Jalen Mills and LaRon Landry started as freshmen as well

So Jordan Allen is the answer lol

Considering he was getting juked out of his shoes by Pimpton do you feel the same?
Posted on 8/5/24 at 2:53 pm to Buga225
He never said it was impossible to start as a freshman, but in general it's usually not what you want. With that being said, I not sure that I believe that we will have 2 freshman DB's starting game 1
Posted on 8/5/24 at 2:53 pm to Geauxtigersgeaux12
Man I’m just passing along what I’ve heard. Pimpton is also very athletic, but if you watched our safety’s last year, that was an every game occurrence. One bad play doesn’t define a player, however multiple bad plays can

Okay?

Probability is that if you're starting two true freshmen week 1, it's not a great sign.

Right, but even when doing that it tells the story of the rest of the talent there.

No, what happened?
