How did you as fans allow the media to run the Painter narrative in 2009? (MVP race)

He was a rookie of course indy will suck starting a 5th round rookie.
That was literally why he won they beat that drum to death. How did you as fans not make sure the obvious was stated.
No way they should’ve got away with that.
I don’t remember people stating that obvious fact

WTF are you rambling on about? I even tried to look it up, the guy played 2 games his rookie year and had 28 total attempts.
He started against the Saints in 2011, and they were crushed 62-7

The narrative was the colts would suck without Manning and with Painter starting..
That was literally the difference of why he won that MVP.
You as fans how did you allow that narrative to slide. He was a rookie a 5th round pick of course your gonna suck starting a rookie 5th round pick.

How did fans allow World War II to interrupt the 1941 season?

Except for the small detail that Painter never started. Manning went 14-0 before dialing it back once they clinched the #1 seed in the AFC. Saints went 13-1 and clinched the #1 seed even though they lost their 14th game. They both had comparable numbers, but Manning had the better overall record. That was the narrative. Saying people brought up Painter as an argument for PM to win would be the same as saying Marc Brunell starting and losing should give Brees the edge.
The argument for Brees MVP has always been 2011 when they changed what they consider so Rodgers could win his 1st MVP. Hell, Flynn put up ridiculous stats in GB's final game and bought himself a nice payday to be Russ's backup in Seattle running that same offense.
But the biggest argument to your entire thread is, when the frick has the NFL ever listened to the fans when it comes to things like this?

1 more win isn’t enough to sway anything you might as well just admit you wanted manning to have it the entire time.
Same as cp3 getting shafted for kobe. If the lowly hornets win 57 and the mighty lakers win 58 and you see that as a big enough difference to give it to kobe then you wanted it to be him the entire time.
Same situation colts we’re already established as good it should’ve went to Drew. Especially being he got opoty 2x, he is literally the only QB to win opoty and not win MVP the same year. Pure bias.
And yes they definitely beat that painter drum to death why do you think I’d bring it up? I remember this vividly that was the difference insinuating the colts would suck and the saints would somehow not be bottom of the NFL because they have Sean Payton who they saw as some kind of puppet master.
Bias again to this day we never hear how Mahommes-Ried are “in tune”, or whatever words they choose to use. Somehow Ried name doesn’t get mentioned and mahommes gets 100% of credit when this same man made Kevin Kolb the highest paid QB in the NFL.

The real reason Manning won the MVP, it seemed to me, was the atrocious performance of Curtis Painter in relief of Manning late in the season. Watching that comic opera including Colts' fans booing their own team produced a guttural reaction, which made the sidelined Manning look all the more superhuman by comparison. Meanwhile, in relief of Brees, Mark Brunell of the Saints had also lost, but had not looked nearly as bad. That the deciding factor in who won the season's MVP might well have come down to who had the more inept backup seemed a disgrace to me.
