What are the details on the one player that got canceled? I tried to google it but all I could find is that she interacted with posts that "could" be interpreted as anti-LGBTQ+.

That seems to be pretty obscure for the amount of hate she has gotten.

She’s a devout Christian who made a few comments about not wearing the rainbow on her jersey, etc. She’s not a star by any stretch but could definitely have made the squad. She goes against the USWNT extreme left culture.

She liked a status about Rapinoe getting injured, I believe.

Clearly not a smart decision when you’re about to be on a team with a bunch of her teammates, but when a player is good enough, you have them say a few statements, have their agent draft an apology, and then move on with things.

And that seems to be what the coach has done.

I am by no means a staunch right wing person but this culture makes it tough to get fully invested in this team. I get that they have a platform and feel the need to stand up for what they believe in but they also represent our country and that means all the different belief systems in our country, not just the ones that they believe in themselves.

With Rapinoe gone, it’s much easier to watch them. And now we have the best coach in the world, so I’m excited to see what they can do.

The post she liked was about LGBTQ+ issues but did mention the injury.

Having Rose Lavelle and Mallory Swanson fully healthy makes us so dangerous.

This is why inclusiveness makes the Olympics irrelevant. Zambia shouldn’t even be in the Olympics.

I’m always frustrated when a coach lacks the courage to bench or replace a longtime player.

Abby Wambach stayed a bit too long, and Rapinoe should not have been on the 2023 team because she was clearly no longer of the quality needed.

That’s also why I am entirely fine with Alex Morgan being replaced with the depth we have.

I kind of disagree. The Olympics are about representing your country which is special. They should have as many countries qualify for events as possible.

I’m not too familiar with the team but Zambia is considered a decent team with a couple of borderline world class players (and then a huge step down), and they had an okay showing at the last World Cup.

The US played worse against a less prominent side to open the last World Cup, imo.

So the women get to use whomever they want and the men are the u-23 squad + 3 old guys? Not that the results would change much for us, but this (and title 9 scholarship disparities) is why these twats believe in equity instead of equality.
