I've got one of those Ryobi misting fans that you can sit on top of a 5 gallon bucket and the mosquitos are so bad after Hurricane Beryl in Houston that I'm thinking of mixing insecticide in the bucket and dragging that thing around the yard to treat it. After I'm done I'd run a couple buckets of regular water through it to clean it. Think it would be safe to use after that?

Do you not have a pump sprayer? Just get a pump sprayer and some general pesticide, I use this to spray my yard routinely for pesticide, herbicide, etc.

I doubt if you rinse it there's an issue but I don't see a reason to mix a misting fan for regular use with pesticide.

I've never tried it, but those mosquito tablets you put in buckets of water seem to get very good reviews

Ryobi makes a 1/2 gallon fogger for like $50. I have it. It goes like 15’. The 2ah battery only does 1/2 tank so I need a Dewalt adapter. Treat dawn and dusk when they’re active and you get some results.
There are some 2 stroke foggers on Ali express for like $130 but fuel mixture is weird and they are gravity fed so probably not great.
The pro Stihl foggers start above $500.
Best to check your gutters or any trash laying around the yard that may collect water.

Check out mosquito sniper. It’s a pump sprayer system that you hook up with a gas blower. I have a backyard full of bamboo and trees and this thing is super effective. Spray everything

You can grab the tool only Ryobi spayer on Amazon for $30. Should use the same battery as that fan.

Or pick up a cheap backpack or pump sprayer from harbor freight.

That’s the one I have. It’s worth $30 just to pounce on those bastards and blow off some steam. Kind of like the zappers. It won’t reach tree tops or anything but it’ll do. Surprisingly loud though.

What chemical are you using when treating? I'm assuming if spraying the whole yard you can kill other unwanted bugs.

The idea of a portable fogger is to be able to fog your shrubs and dead wind areas where mosquitos shelter during the day. Just blindly misting everything around you is not going to be effective.

Not a tree hugger here and i use bifen for fireants and roaches but only on the lawn 2x a year and around slab. It tends to kill beneficial things like insects birds eat and worms. How do you protect against that. Or do you just like a sterile yard? I get killing the sob mosquitoes.
