Herbicide pruning of trails

Was watching mossy oak game keepers and caught the end of them talking about spraying herbecide with a boom sprayer on trails to keep them drivable but not kill the trees.
I have seen DOT apply it along roads but a quick google doesn’t tell me what is the correct herbicide to apply. Anyone know what can be bought without a license (amazon/tractor supply) tbat I could spray that would kill limbs but not trees??

I don’t know the herbicide but know it was discussed when Mark Thomas was on the podcast. Looks like it was a 2 part series episodes 225 and 227. He went into detail on his spray rig for pruning trees and how fast he drove his tractor, etc. You could try skipping around in those episodes to get to that point.

Which of the 2 episodes was it? I really don’t want to have to listen to him more than I have to. Interesting dude but a little cringe worthy at times.

I trim ours with a bush hog attached to our mini excavator. Smaller lanes I walk with a long handled hedge trimmer.

I put my tank in my Polaris and spray once a year, usually in late July. After that I can normally just take a trimmer to the lanes and they are clean.

It was the 2nd episode I think 10-15 minutes into that episode. And I agree with your assessment…very interesting and knowledgeable but seems very arrogant and like someone you wouldn’t want to hang out with.

I do the same with my excavator. I can reach up about 10 feet. It works great for shooting lanes also.

Yes it does . It’s loaded up on the trailer now to do a small job tomorrow.

Looking to get a mulcher head for ours but so far the bush hogs has done its job then some.
