Gun cleaning kit recommendations

My gun cleaning stuff is a mess. I have an odd assortment of parts and partial kits going back several decades. Unintended mixing and matching makes it hard to use. I think it's time to toss it all out any get one good, complete kit (maybe a separate set of rods for shotguns). Good quality but not crazy-expensive. The rod needs to fit down .22s and be convenient for a 4" barrel handgun or a 30" barrel long gun. Any particular recommendations?
Second: do you have a favorite, readily-available solvent? Back in the day I used a lot of Hoppe's No. 9. I'd like one product that's not harsh on blued steel, stainless steel, and aluminum; and that does a good job on copper fouling, lead fouling, and powder residue. Any favorites?
Third: many years ago Midway in Missouri was a great source of such things? Are they still out there and a good place to buy? Where do you like?
Thanks!

Break Free CLP has always worked fine for me. Used it in the military(shot a lot), use it now(don’t shoot nearly as much)…

Get separate rods for each. I use these:
Bore-tech
Those will cover rifles and shotguns. I just use boresnske for pistols
Also use bore-tech solvents.
Uncle Larry is still going strong. I buy a lot from them online at MidwayUSA.com

Bore Snake for shotguns is the way to go.
Our like some of our grandpas, a metal coat hanger straightened out with a hook at the end to hang of a piece of torn t-shirt with some WD40 sprayed on the end. HAHA

Break Free CLP
This is the only thing I use. I purchased Ballistol to give it a try, but the smell is unbearable.

I use Break Free CLP for everything except that I'll use Hoppe's #9 on the barrel and chamber to get at carbon build up first, then CLP for a lube/protectant. All other parts just get CLP.

Mine was but I just organized it all into ammo cans, I have several GI-issued Otis cleaning kits but I almost never use them.
I use Hoppe's #9 and Breakfree CLP mostly. Have some Montanna Copper Killer, Ballistol, and a few other things but rarely used or needed. I use CLP the most because, while it's not a great solvent, it's an excellent corrosion protectant and it's designed for long term storage. CLP works best when allowed to sit for a few weeks to months or more, just like what military small arms experience for the most part. I go a general cleaning then leave a coating on the dirtiest spots and put them away. Pull them back out to clean those spots sometime later and the carbon is so soft it just wipes off. No scraping, no hard brushes, no picks.

I use an Otis cleaning kit with Hoppes and CLP.

I use lucas gun oil and Slip2000. I tend to prefer Slip2000 mainly because its nontoxic and non hazardous. If you have kids or pets, thats something to consider.

It's not for cleaning, but if anyone wants a phenomenal, cheap bulk gun lube recipe use this:
- Mobil 1 synthetic grease (1 tube or can)
- 1 qt any type of full synthetic motor oil (5w or 10w, doesn't matter)
Mix about 4-5 parts oil to 1 part grease (this could vary) and blend until smooth (should have the end consistency of a very thick soup).
Best way to mix is by combining in a squirt bottle and shaking vigorously for about 1-2 mins.
Viola! You have over a qt of gun/parts lube for less than $20.

I use boretech stuff with tipton(i think) carbon fiber rods and nylon brushes for the rifles.
CLP is for the pistols.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. In the mode of K.I.S.S., I just ordered some fresh Hoppe's No. 9 and Break-Free CLP, plus a set of bronze pistol bore brushes (in a convenient little case) and some patches from Midway.
Mild annoyance: it seems, at least from Midway, Break-Free CLP is not available in a standard little bottle?! I'm about 96% certain that many years ago I bought it that way. I ended up with some sort of sprayer.
I need to review and rationalize my cleaning rods, but I think that's a next-time project.
Again, thanks for your time and suggestions!
