I guess having current data on his tendencies is catching up to him.

3IP 11H 10ER 1BB 3K 3HRs

Mets also have 3 doubles to go along with the 3 HRs and he’s pulled with 2 on and no out in the 3rd.

Imanaga’s line vs the Mets earlier this year was 7IP 3H 0R 1BB 7Ks

Imanaga is no Paul Skenes

He was leaving pitches up with the wind blowing out at Wrigley.

His era climbed to 2.96 after today; up from 1.89

It went as I predicted.

Dude couldn’t get out of AAAA (Japan) until he was 30.

The league would adjust with his low 90s fastball.

I really hope this board doesn’t make every non LSU fan hate Skenes

Everyone knows he’s good and enjoys watching him but once people start the Cy young threads and bringing him up in threads not about him it’s gonna turn into everyone hoping he fails re: littleavery and Judge

..only a Cubs fan would fight for Imamaga winning NL ROY if the season (prior to today) progressed like it has so far for him, but Skenes truly defines being a rookie.

If Skenes continues to put up quality starts, he easily overtakes everything Imanaga has done to date.

Cubs’ 31 year old rookie from Japan who was 7-1 with an era of 1.89 entering today.

He will be 7-2 with a 2.96 era after today.

Uh yeah. They are both rookies, hence the comparison when deciding rookie of the year.

Skenes is looking damn good but the league will figure him out too and he’ll have to make adjustments. Those acting like that won’t happen will be eating crow.

Little tougher to adjust to 101 mph fastballs with a tail, a 95 mph splinker, a 88mph slider and a curveball and changeup he’s barely even thrown thus far, that are also good pitches.

He’s only thrown the curve 8% of the time and the changeup 4%.

70% of his pitches have been fastballs and splinkers, and he’s been mostly unhittable.
He still has more stuff to throw at guys when they start to adjust.

Skenes is now -125 for ROTY.
Imanaga falls to +400, after being the favorite when the day started. He even fell behind Jackson Merrill too.

He threw his curve ball a lot more last 2 games I think. Maybe testing it out real-time.
