Since it has become painfully obvious the Hornets need either a slashing two guard or a big man who can score in the low post, I decided to make this thread.

I'd rather see us try to address the big man problem with a trade with Memphis.

Juju or 1st round pick +
Butler

Marc Gasol or Darko Milic

Neither of the two are superstars, but both are young centers filled with potential, who can score in the low post.

Just think what playing with Paul would do for Darko's game or even Gasol as well.

To get Milic the Hornets would have to unload Mo Pete instead of Butler and maybe add a pick. Gasol's salary matches with Butler/Juju.

At the end of last year, the Hornets were "one player away" accoring to most on this board. They got Posey and he "was the missing piece". 2 weeks into the regular season the "one player away" became a back up point guard so they went out and got Daniels. One week after the Daniels deal, the "one player away" is still out there.

The Hornets are 3 players away from winning a title.

-David West
-Peja Stojakovic
-Tyson Chandler

+3 good players and the Hornets can win a title. Since these players are locked in due to their contracts and have 0 trade value whatsoever, the Hornets will never be a true contender like the Mavs, Spurs, Cavs, Lakers, and Celtics.

Don't include me in that group, I think the Hornets have danced around the two biggest issues. And those are a slashing 2G/low post scoring big man. All the additions of Posey and Daniels will do is tacking a few more wins on our regular season total, not a playoff series.

no the hornets are 1 player away from being a title contender right now (with daniels, if he ever gets to play 25/night)

if we could magically get a bynum or jermaine o'neal or somebody who could post up and bump our big men down 1 spot on the depth chart, we'd be right there

The Mavs are in no way, shape, or form a title contender.

daniels SHOULD fill 1 of those gaps

We had a pretty decent backup PG last year and they didn't get past the 2nd round, IMO the issues are deeper than that.

the hornets can't make short term deals unless some magical deal falls in their lap

they have to keep the butler/daniels expiring contracts available to be packaged (juju may have to go with them)

using these contracts to secure a borderline all star will determine the hornets current window

every team can, if they have the right pieces at the right time

the bucks raped the nets for jefferson this offseason. if he went to a good team that'd be a similar deal

None of those deals are that one-sided, Marc is pretty good but he isn't even starting in Memphis and who knows how Pau will influence him.

The Nets raped us for Devin Harris.

Not that it changes the fact that the Mavs are still winning an NBA title, but still.

The Hornets got worked by the Warriors a few years back. Baron Davis for Speedy Claxton and cap space isn't exactly an even trade. The point is every team gets ''raped'' every now and then.
