Headed to Ireland in a couple weeks and doing some research on places to eat for dinner. Any can't miss spots? TIA.

A classic hotel restaurant can be found at the Great Southern Hotel.
www.greatsouthernkillarney.com

The restaurant has two menus, one for tour groups and one for independent diners. The latter is more interesting.

I was there a couple of weeks ago, but didn't get a wide selection of places to eat.

If in Dublin, try The Winding Stair.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll look into those spots.

We will be in Dublin but only for a couple days. I think we have our meals lined out for that portion of the trip but I’ll look into The Winding Star as well.

We’re going to be in Dublin, Killarney, Galway, and Dingle before heading to Greece and then to Wimbledon.

Was in Dingle for a week last year. Fantastic town. We ate at the Fish box (well worth the wait), plus they recently remodeled, so it's a little bigger than before. Ashe's for dinner was great as well as Chart House. If you're looking for anything else, just let me know.

Caveat - I am not a foodie at all and usually just go for something cheap and local with the occasional splurge.

But I had a good fish n' chips at Quinlin's (popular with locals), a great bowl of Irish stew at Caragh's and a nice meal at Hillard's (I think - more upscale). Also had a great bowl of seafood chowder somewhere on the Ring of Kerry - Scarriff Inn maybe? Not sure.

Also, Murphy's Ice Cream for dessert.

Was in Killarney about 6 years ago - there was a decent taproom with food on the southside of downtown. Good place for pub food and the beer was good. I think it's called Killarney Brewing. Not sure about can't miss dining, but fish & chips are hard to beat.

And ditto the other post about Dingle - the entire area is very scenic. We had a really nice lunch at the Fish Box as well.

Beyond dinner, there are some great golf courses within a hour or two of Killarney.

Oysters! There are 100+ oyster farms in Ireland where the water never gets warm enough to worry about eating a "bad oyster". Just ask locally where you can get drinks and raw oysters. It doesn't need to be a great restaurant.

If you want an upscale oyster experience in Galway (great college town) try: LINK

On a longer trip eat oysters fresh from the sea : LINK

Compared to south Louisiana you'll find the Irish food to be pretty bland, and the pub grub gets monotonous quickly. I never tried "Cajun Chicken" offered by pubs in every town visited.

I don't know if it's "can't miss," but we had a pretty good meal at Bricín when we were there about 10 years ago.

Had a great meal in Killarney 2 years ago at Murphy Brownes. Sat upstairs and had some awesome traditional Irish food and a few Killarney Blonde Ales.

There was a table of Americans near us and found out they were from Baton Rouge.

Go check out Muckross Abbey while in Killarney. We went late one evening and had the place to ourselves. Also the Torc Waterfall is a lovely spot in that area.
