So, I've always been a Duke fan... Reddick played under Coach K, had a 15 year career, played under Doc, Scott Skiles, Brett Brown, Alvin Gentry, SVG, etc... Not exactly a pipeline coaching tree to hang a hat on...
Smart guy, knows his X's and O's, I question his likeability with players. Was known as somewhat an arrogant guy around the league early in his career but then kinda had a makeover with the Clippers.

So, he's in the running to seriously become the next Lakers head coach. Considering their in championship mode with Bron's remaining years, it's a bit odd they would go with a rookie head coach potentially. Guess Bron is co-signing his podcast partner to coach him up.

Do yall think it's a good hire? If you could, would you fire Willie and hire JJ as the Pels coach??

I could see it for a developing team and surround him with seasoned assistant coaching. Idk about immediate championship contender. Steve Kerr and his rise doesn't happen everyday, and even then he had STRONG coaches and some experience. Idk.

lol I would pay money to see the epic melt if we fired WG for bitch arse JJ Reddick. Most here don’t like Willie, but JJ is basically Derek Fisher with the Knicks 2.0

We have the Lakers pick next year, please Jesus 6 lbs 8 oz baby Jesus please let the lakers hire JJ.

I think there is a chance JJ is a good coach. However, a locker room with Lebron overruling him seems like a disaster waiting. Better opportunities for him elsewhere. Somewhere like Charlotte or Cleveland would be better maybe

A first time coach with a superstar like LeBron at the head of the team won’t end well.

Look at Nash with Kyrie and Durant as his stars with the Nets.

I can't see the Lakers doing this. Hire him as a coach in waiting but not the Top guy. Might be a shitshow like Steve Nash in Brooklyn. Forgot we own Lakers pick... Definitely bump to next year and see what happens.

That pick was going to bump anyway. Next year is a better draft and even getting a similar spot is an improvement. Getting another lottery pick like Dyson is a huge improvement over this year.

With all of the recent success former players have had skipping the coaching line, it’s no surprise that JJ is so sought after.

Pretty much agree. Redick seems widely liked around the league but he’s just going to be a “buddy coach.” Granted lebron wont take orders from anyone but I don’t see how this is a good hire. Best case he’s a transparent proxy for lebron and gets scapegoated when they lose, worst case it’s a public mutiny.

I listened to his podcast a bit when he was here. He’s a very good basketball mind. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a very good coach. I think it makes total sense for him as a next step.

You think JJ would work for Griff? He hates that slimy mother fricker. It’s on record.

That’s the thing. Nash wasn’t a shite show. A Durant/Harden/Irving locker room was a shite show. Irving is the first NBA player to ever take PTO. The dude was literally questioning why he needed to be at every game.

Putting an inexperienced coach in over 2-3 superstars, several of them questioning if they even need a coach, is a really bad idea.

I’m not sure if Nash sucked as a coach or not but the disaster that was the Nets have probably killed any chance he gets short of paying dues as an assistant somewhere first.

I think the point is, nobody is successful in that situation because the locker room was a no win situation. You get a HOF player leading them, they revolt. You have a coach that actually coaches them, they revolt. It’s different, but the same for the lakers. Lebron wants everything done how he wants, and nobody will live up to his expectations. Once you lose his trust on the team, it’s over for you.

Pretty much.

Solution is to make LeBron the player coach officially instead of defacto. May as well make him the GM too given that he is allowed to dictate moves to Pelinka.

Main difference of doing all that is to make him take the blame for when things go wrong as opposed to blaming a scapegoat. Because LeBron LOVES to demand shite, get it, then blame everyone for not making it work like sacrificing Frank Vogel over Westbrook being a horrible fricking trade idea.
