What a mess college athletics has turned into. How is this sustainable?

They have absolutely ruined college athletics. It’s gonna be as bad as the NFL when it’s all said and done.Bunch of spoiled brats. The tail wagging the dog !!

It is different. I think the NCAA created this mess through years of not evolving. Had they found a way to compensate all athletes at a reasonable level, this may have been avoided. Like free agency in Pro sports it’ll seem normal in time.

Schools leftover in the old NCAA system will either drop football all together or scale back on how much its prioritized (funded) because the revenue is going to drop once all of the teams that national audiences cared about are all in a completely separate league.

I don't have an issue with revenue sharing in theory, but this is just an additional 22 million a year that any school wanting to compete will have to come up with. This is in addition to a capless NIL system that is increasing exponentially every year.
This settlement also doesn't stop future lawsuits, so it's not going to really solve anything permanently. The next case could ask for 50 million a year in sharing.

If I had millions of dollars, I still would not contribute a single cent to NIL.
Its essentially going to turn into minor league sports. And once everyone starts to stick their hand in the jar, 100+ football players, 15 Basketball players, 40 baseball players, plus other sports and women sports, either football will be the only sport left, or they will all be paid pennies on the dollar for everyone to get theirs

The Little Darlings have money and what they need to survive in College.

Establish a Semi-Pro League (Right out of High School) for those that can't make it or dont want College........

The $22 million in the settlement is payable to PAST athletes at each school according to each school's Title IX guidelines.
PLUS
Current and going forward athletes will get a revenue share each year
PLUS
state laws still permit unlimited NIL. No caps on these monies.
The bottom line is whoever has the most cash annually will be the most successful competitively, at least in recruiting top talent.

Players getting compensation for their name image and likeness is very sustainable… business want to pay some for advertisements it happens … if college athletics goes to shite they will get less money for their name image likeness … but there is nothing to sustain for it not to be sustainable

Wouldn’t work … the coaching and development you need is in college football… it’s a changing of times … it is what it is …. If your the best 19 year old on the planet at what you do and people want to compensate you for that why should you not get compensation … but it’s a mute question now because you can

NIL was nothing more than a door opening exercise meant to separate the players from the universities in order to gain control over the entire sport. Soon the same corporate entities that control the NFL will control what used to be popular college football programs. They’ll keep their names to keep their built in fan bases but they’ll have little to no connection with the universities other than ceremonial. It’s over

It will be ONLY SEC and Big10 teams that have a shot at prospering in this new "system." Those two leagues will produce enough media revenue to pay their athletes under a revenue sharing system. At least they can pay SOME of their athletes. But some sports are gonna bite the dust, IMO.
No other leagues will be able to sustain this new situation in their sports.
My question about LSU is this: what will our supporters pay in NIL compared to Georgia, Florida, and Texas?
