That second one about Nintendo doesn’t seem to be accurate. Seems to be a remake of a really old game and this was always included to an extent.

Actually NoA seems to have changed it in the update.

quote:

Vivian is a Otokonoko. It's a Japanese term for men who have female like features. Otokonoko acknowledge that they are men. They just prefer to wear female clothing.

The new version of “Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door” doesn’t appear to be a woke reboot, however. Interestingly, in the original 2004 Japanese version, Vivian was also transgender and subject to teasing from her sisters. In the English translation, released that same year, the character was not trans. Instead, she was bullied because she was “ugly.” The main difference in the new 2024 edition is that the teasing is toned down, with game-makers adopting a more celebratory attitude towards Vivian’s trans identity.

I don’t know about the LGBQT stuff, but Yasuke (the black samurai) was a real person.

From what I've seen he wasn't a samurai. At least not in any serious sense.

Not news. It was gay stuff in 2 of the previous 3. It was unavoidable in Odyssey and it was more an option in Valhalla. We talking 6-8 years ago on Odyssey.

The entire gaming community is going to be fiercely divided if/when ES6 releases and Is woke. They had the absolute perfect formula in Skyrim, but things at Bethesda have gotten weird and we live in an age where people feel the need to "fix" what isn't broken. I suspect many neck bearded, stoned couch dwellers will take to the Internet forums in praise, while pretty much everyone else will just walk away from the franchise.

The overall direction of gaming development has nose dives off a cliff with all the "inclusive" crap, but there are still some pretty straightforward titles being released that are outperforming nearly everyone. Dragon's Dogma 2 is awesome.

Going way back, having female video game characters has always been effective. Metroid, MK and SF titles, Tomb Raider, etc. are all classics that people still love. But now, it feels like too many games are just "forcing" female protagonists where they don't fit and then having to change everything around them to make it more "organic". It's not working.
