Chic fil a does this but it’s to keep everything clean. And they don’t charge for refills.

Charging for refills on fountain drinks is complete bullshite.

Needing a refill from a fast food restaurant is a huge indictment of yourself.

It's their pleasure to refill it too. It won't be the case at most McDonalds.

From a work flow perspective, McDonalds will need that much more productive of an employee to handle these refills along with their normal responsibilities. They'll need to find better people, manage the restaurants competently, or hire more people (all of which Chick Fil A does).

They also have a more simplified menu to streamline their production, better management, and usually better employees.

I'm wondering if McDonalds thinks the additional charges for refills can justify more manpower or if they are trying to actively discourage people from using the dining room and focus more on drive thru business. I've noticed that their dining rooms are less inviting, smaller, and dirtier than they used to be.

I bet it also discourages a lot of people from getting refills. Especially the refill when people are leaving and don't really want anymore drink but its right there so why not?

When I was a kid (70s-EARLY 80s), my mom and dad would tell me at restaurants not to drink my Coke too fast because I wasn't getting another one. Not bec of health or caffeine issues. But because if you wanted a refill, it was the same prices as the original soda.

Getting a refill on a fountain drink is fricking disgusting. You've had enough.
