When it comes to RPI, they both matter.
That’s very true. But you can’t tell me that the committee doesn’t value weekend games more than midweek games if they are breaking down individual teams.

I actually don’t believe there are 15 teams better than us for two games.

If you’re a #1 seed, how many of those teams would you rather have in your bracket over LSU?
Based on what LSU has done this year and this team it’s dead arse moot. What makes LSU more threatening than those teams besides the name on the jersey in a tournament where you have to win three games to advance.

Again, you are missing the point. We are talking about the 1 and 3 seeds. Winning the 2nd game is extremely important in a regional. So if you are a 1 seed, when evaluating who you would prefer as a 3 seed, you are going to look at their #2 starter. LSU has an advantage in that category over the vast majority of the teams that I listed. You can go team by team of all of those possible 3 seeds and I bet you would struggle to find many #2 starters with a ERA under 2.73.

Why can’t you bring that up?

Nah, pitching depth keeps us from being that.
You realize we have a top 5 pitching staff in the SEC right?
Our fans are a lot more critical of our staff than what’s reality and relative to what everyone else has.
Our bigger issue has been manufacturing runs, not pitching

It sounds silly, but throughout that entire 3 & 12 gauntlet I never got the feeling we couldn’t compete or that we didn’t belong. That’s why I believe this LSU club can make it to a super regional. I’m not sure we can timely hit well enough to win a super, but if we’re molten hot at the plate I damn sure won’t rule it out.

We also lost to a pretty poor Alabama and Vanderbilt team... not to mention the Southern debacle.
You can't call any team in the SEC, outside of Missouri and maybe Auburn, poor. The SEC is so far ahead of any other conference it's laughable.
From a talent standpoint, LSU is at worst a top 20 team in the country. I've outlined this in previous posts, but LSU has a few bounces of the ball away from being 18-12 in conference and being a top 8 seed. They may not even make the tournament, but this team is pretty clearly a top 20 team in the country.

quote:two teams throwing their aces in a game in an MLB stadium with 25,000 people in attendance does not hold as much weight as a midweek loss in a game where LSU threw 8 pitchers.
My baw, you're the one who brought up a win over Texas in February... that holds just about as much weight now as a midweek loss to Southern.
It's dishonest to equate those two games in any way.

It kind of does though, but okay here’s to hoping they do something they haven’t shown over the course of 30 games!

If they’re not a Top 10 SEC team….
What does say about the rest of the teams in the nation?

Bullpen last season looked like shite. Then in Omaha they flipped a switch and we won the whole damn thing. It reminded me a lot of Skip’s 1996 club. That bullpen was garbage late season. Then all the sudden it was awesome in regional and in Omaha.

Who says we aren’t? A 5 team tie-breaker formula to seed the SECT?

I don’t think we are top 15, but I do think we are top 32.

Man, is this the 80’s and you got some inner city crank…
Posted on 5/19/24 at 1:47 am to LSBoosie
Maybe not top 15, but certainly top 25. And any top 25, when they put it all together can win the national championship.

I ain’t no expert on this year but I do remember last year regular season we took some beatings and when it came to turn it up a notch we beat arse.
