Thankfully it didn’t cost a critical insurance run but still

It’s amazing how many times we’ve seen something sum of the season lately.

What was lazy about that play?

It wasn't lazy. He doesn't have the arm to make that play and that dude is fast.
The issue is we would never attempt something like that

Looked like the only thing he could do to me.

The lazy part is that he did not pursue the ball in a manner that would allow the most timely throw back to the infield. Round the ball.

He drifted with the ball and caught it over his left shoulder.
In my opinion could have beat the ball of the spot, caught it over his chest and been ready to throw. Even though he still probably doesn’t get McCants if McCants was going, it definitely makes him think twice before he takes off.

I agree. He could have gotten under the ball and faced 2nd base to be prepared to actually throw it in and not “spin and throw”. May have deterred the tag if so

He’s not lazy, he is just not a good fielder of the ball at any position

You can still suck as a fielder and sprint to get onto the ball
