Some of the people and culture that brought us the benefits of our modern world.
Thomas Alva Edison (February 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) was an American inventor and businessman.[1][2][3] He developed many devices in fields such as electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures.[4] These inventions, which include the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and early versions of the electric light bulb, have had a widespread impact on the modern industrialized world.[5] He was one of the first inventors to apply the principles of organized science and teamwork to the process of invention, working with many researchers and employees. He established the first industrial research laboratory.[6]

With hot weather coming, a reminder of where those air conditioners came from.
Willis Haviland Carrier (November 26, 1876 – October 7, 1950) was an American engineer, best known for inventing modern air conditioning. Carrier invented the first electrical air conditioning unit in 1902. In 1915, he founded Carrier Corporation, a company specializing in the manufacture and distribution of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
In Buffalo, New York, on July 17, 1902, in response to an air quality problem experienced at the Sackett-Wilhelms Lithographing & Publishing Company of Brooklyn, New York,[6] Willis Carrier submitted drawings for what became recognized as the world's first modern air conditioning system. It was so humid in summer that the paper grew and shrank, which resulted in poor quality images, because the color printing process involved running the same piece of paper up to four times, each with a different color ink.[7]

Well, he was a little obsessed with patents. He had over 1,000 and sued anyone who came close to copying his stuff.

Wait, social media told me black people invented everything good. I’m confused now by facts.

Still was a garbage human being.
Edison's greatness was in perfecting other people's developments. He made many things more efficient and then took credit for the original invention.

Doesn’t sound right. Back then we were a “first to invent” country. How many amazing inventions were made by people who couldn’t prove it?
