This is a great article on Skenes, both his talent and his maturity, and the thinking behind how the Pirates have been handling his progression.

"What we're seeing, more than anything, is a remarkable desire to be very honest with information, very honest with feedback and very fast to adjust," Cherington said. "I hate making comps. This is not a great comp because it's not the same type of player. But I've told people I believe Mookie Betts is the best practice player I've ever been around. Yes, he's talented, but specifically because he's so open to the truth and has such a comfortable relationship with, 'Oh, I'm not doing that well enough? Great. Give it to me so I can do something about it.'
"It sounds so simple, but it's very hard for people to do that. And we see some of that in Paul. Different players, different personalities, different people. But that relationship with the feedback he's getting about what his pitches are doing, what his delivery is doing, this is the target of where they want it to be. Those adjustments happen quickly."

A little gobbledygook-y, but basically Skenes stacked, MLB fricked.

Skenes will never leave another soldier behind. Dude is 100% class...

When did Les Miles become the GM for the Pirates?

That didn’t make a lot of sense.

Nice article but the Pirates are full of it. It’s not a coincidence that 5/11 is the day he’s another year away from free agency.

When you’re with Livvy you do what you want. RIP MLB

He, like Betts who are both great talents are very receptive to instruction from their coaches and make quick adjustments(they comprehend well) to become more proficient at their craft. Some players have a slower learning curve, baba yaga doesn't.

Hipster way of saying Paul is very coachable.

I guess what he is saying is that Paul is very coachable.

Thats really a load of horseshite and a poor case and example of the Pirates farm team in an effort to justify their existance! Skenes wouldn’t say one way or the other but if the truth were known he’d admit that he’s had to go along…..to get along! His middle name is ‘Class’!
