The persistent whining about Fox News didn't seem woke?
What? Please cite the "whining" about Fox News news in the article. The Governor went on Fox news, so mentioning that is "whining"?
quote:
And his insinuation that Landry had a problem with basketball players praying, as opposed to him not liking their arranging not to be present when the National Anthem was played? Seemed woke to me.
All you had to do was read a couple more sentences where he points out how dumb Landry behaved because he thought the team snubbed the national anthem.
From the article:
"Does Landry have a problem with prayer? And why didn’t he object while attending the LSU vs. Middle Tennessee game days earlier when the team was in the locker room during the anthem? "
So your argument is that this writer is woke because he pointed out that the team followed their normal game time routine and that the Governor falsely assumed that they snubbed the national anthem? Am I missing something?

Did he not repeat several times that he thought Landry's actions were motivated by trying to make points on Fox News? Why the focus on Fox News? Too conservative for his taste? Did he not ask if Landry had a problem with prayer, and try to blame his actions on that?

Even if your perceptions on all of this were correct, this still has nothing to do with being woke.

Because they said something you apparently disagree with, and when that happens ya'll turn to "woke".

Why the focus on Fox News?
Because that's the only network that Landry appeared on and tried to make a big stink about the basketball team? Did he go on any other network? He can't name the media outlet that Landry went to in order to trash LSU?
Landry is a conservative. Fox News leans right. It's "woke" to point out that he's trying to pander to other conservatives on Fox News?

I read that as sarcasm. Of course, the conservative governor of Louisiana does not have a problem with prayer, and nobody would seriously try to make that point. I'm failing to see what is "woke" about questioning if the governor does not like the school praying, even if he wasn't being sarcastic. So, defense of prayer is now "woke"?

Does Rolfe not seriously understand what's going on in this state? Or is he just a limousine liberal virtue signaler?
Rolfe is a fine example of the people with a little money and influence in BR that have helped make BR the way it is. Rolfe would probably tell you Bill Cassidy is a fine senator. He gave Gary Chambers space in his newspaper to spew his race grifting bullshite. Yes, Gary Chambers, the guy who lives in his moms house in North BR and continually runs for shite to fill campaign coffers so he can continue to spend that money on food so he can continue to be a fat arse.

The retconning on here of JBE's administration by those who hate Jeff Landry is hilarious. If you even say "I don't care for Jeff Landry but recall that JBE did X Y and Z to strip you of your rights" you get back "ACKUALLLYLL".

Weve been shitty before landry, we arent going to be first in 2 months. These people are fricking lunatics.
Its almost as if they think they can only do one thing.
Landry clearly cant go on fox news and run the state, its impossible.
Thats what they are saying.
I would argue all of these fricks blindly followed Edwards on covid.

Landry should focus on doing his job. In April, a report from the American Legislative Exchange Council, “Rich States, Poor States,” ranked Louisiana 50th in economic performance. That is the real issue Landry needs to worry about—but I guess that won’t get him on Fox.

Sadly, it seems most state legislators are blindly following the dictator because they fear him or have cut their own deals. Who has the guts to stand up to him?

It’s cited in the article. If you are trying to be cute with semantics, then GTFO.

Perhaps I'm judging him harshly, but that's how he came across to me. If he actually endorsed Sharon Weston Broome, as another poster said, that would tend to validate my perceptions of him. If you want to quibble on what constitutes being woke, which is strictly a leftist construct, feel free. But he appears to be a RINO, at best.

So you're using the term as sort of a way to gauge how far left someone is? That's not what the word means. It's not quibbling when it's used incorrectly in the title of the OP.

Never saw a woke person that wasn't leftist, have you?

Is it not relevant to the subject of this thread? It's possible to not see what is woke about the article but also agree that the author leans left, no? I don't even know if that is true, but my point is that we are discussing the substance of what was written, not the author himself.

Not the point. Someone writing about a disdain for fox news has nothing to do with their feelings on any critical theory, social injustice, or identity politics. The left derided fox news long before any of that stuff was in the zeitgeist.
