I drive my 2011 taco daily. Paid off. I get 800 a month truck allowance so they are paying for my new truck and I only use it sparingly to keep miles low in case I want to get rid of it. Owe 22k on it still.

10%??? Man, hit up a credit union for much better rate. Point taken though

It’s true , the avg note is over $600/mo in the US last I checked. Do the math.

I get that a big car note is not always smart but not sure you’ve priced auto repair lately.
Rarely do you get out for less than $2000.
Driving a beater can be expensive too.

and the market will correct.
asset prices are still reflective of the low rate situation. Corporations are greedy they will charge what people will pay
Stop paying and prices will correct

I just bought a new truck. Got it below MSRP and they were running a lower finance rate. I downsized from a fullsize to a midsize truck because i dont need a fullsize and my old truck was over 10 years old.

Mercedes now moving back to gas guzzlers. Remember the old “ice engines are the horse and buggy, people didn’t want to give that up too”
Well guess what, ICE is pretty damn convenient and cheaper and more profitable for the manufacturer. It also lasts longer.

No, they have different quality control standards.

“Rarely” less than $2k? This is nonsense.
This is what people tell themselves to justify the new ride.

Thinking of doing the same next time. Do you miss the room? Our kids will probably all be legal adults next time I buy one so I won't need the rear seat room. Mine is 7 yrs old but low mileage so no rush. I hope to drive it another 7.

Anyone that judges anybody on what they drive isn't worth having an opinion over.

Only problem im having with the back seat in my fullsize didnt have anything under the seat so i could fold the bottom part up or just slide things under it to store. The midsize bottom folds up to reveal a "storage" but has a damn plastic border around for whatever reason. So i cant slide anything under the seat, just put in the storage space thats designed. Hate that.

Most small stuff I can do myself so maybe my perception is skewed but last two times I’ve been in for our 10 yo Acadia it’s been $1700 and $2500.
We have several drivers and my work is flexible so I was able to deal with it but combined the expense with lost work, ect and having an unreliable car is not worth the risk for people who work for a living.

The border doesn't fold down into itself so you can make a flat space?

I don’t think most people understand how miraculous it is that they can just hop in a complicated machine any time they want and transport themselves dozens or hundreds or miles away without any effort on their part

I know HC, I ask her to transfer it to her savings, but she forgets. Its her money anyways.

On top of the high car prices, the interest rates are ridiculous. I have an 800 score my bank offered me a 10% rate.
Have you tried a credit union? That seems high for someone at 800

No. That was over the last 12 mo. As I said, the last two times I went in. And that’s only a fraction of what they wanted to do.
I’m not exactly sure what we’ve spent over last 10 year. But I’ve probably saved $4000-$5000 doing things myself. New coils, brakes annd rotors, oils changes, new throttle body.
I gave it to my son for his 16th birthday and bought a new truck.
I know my wife was nervous driving it long distance. No woman wants to be broke down on the interstate at night. Well no person wants that but it is especially terrifying for women.

I don’t disagree.
