I bet Lebron would beg to differ, Lakers couldn’t do anything to stop Z in the play in

It's not to argue. It's was to show you the correct answer to your whack assumption.
Let me give you a softball to redeem yourself. What's more important? An elite volume 3pt shooter that can shoot off the dribble or a great defensive player?
When you answer that correctly you'll know why I think your cj slander is weak af

9-40 in the 6 postseason games are where we are not seeing eye to eye. I don’t give a rats arse about CJ being an “elite 3 pt volume shooter” in the regular season if he’s going to shoot under 25% from 3 in the postseason. And again, I don’t care for your no Zion argument because we saw CJ go 1-9 against the Lakers the last time Zion played
Posted on 5/8/24 at 10:14 pm to spaghettioeauxs
And we won't see eye to eye. You're discounting all he did in he regular season over 5 bad, albeit very important games. Games we would've not even been in had cj not played as well as he did for us during the regular season.

CJ being the third option is great. Him being 1/2 isn’t. Sometimes he can be the fourth option also if we set some damn plays for Murphy. I was on the BI train but feels like he doesn’t want to run an offense at all. So hopefully we can find a good 2.

He makes a ridiculous amount of money to be a good 3rd. I wouldn’t even be so hard on him if he wasn’t so damn useless in the playoffs. If we could have stolen game 1 and he shot say 33ish% from 3, I could excuse it. But 9-40 in the entirety of the postseason is just wow. Guarantee you could have given Dyson 40 3 point shots in the postseason and dude would have made more than 9

quote:Steph Curry is 10 for his last 39 3pt attempts in the postseason... Do we need to then downgrade his 3pt shooting ability?
Does the NBA’s best 3 point shooter shoot 9-40 in the final 6 postseason games? Cause that’s what homeboy shot

Curry is a 4 time champ and a unanimous MVP… I’ll cut him some slack

He is the antithesis of clutch. He disappears when you need him

Well then...

If Dyson took the same 3s a CJ, he'd be lucky to make 4 out of 40.

Y’all are really trying to get me on a technicality. When I say whole team, I’m not referring to freaking EJ Liddell and Jeremiah Robinson Earl. I mean players that actually play on the team.. really not complicated but y’all are desperate
Next time I will use the term worst defender in the active rotation so y’all don’t mistakenly include EJ Liddell, JRE, and Izaiah Brockington in the discussion.. my mistake fellas

He really doesn’t, he makes far less than his max salary. His salary puts him as the 40th highest paid player in the league next season, that number will be around 50 once the season actually starts, so his salary is pretty much right in line with his production.

And even then he's hardly the negative you paint him to be, all the advanced stats I gave you prove he's not "God awful", which you've yet to give a legit stat for except for again, a playoff series where we still held the 1 seed to 105 ppg.
So cjs defense isn't nearly bad enough to condemn him, his 3pt shot left him for 5 games, and him being elite for 60 plus games to get us to the post season doesn't matter.
What a rational take by you good sir.

You have to excuse most of the folks here, as most have very little experience with the playoffs.
I'm with you on this. when you're a team who's trying to compete for a championship, then what you do in the playoffs is what matters.
We are probably being a little too hard on CJ, but he was awful in the playoffs.

And if BI was a better fit, then CJ would be in line to be moved unless they are prepared to be a heavy tax team. If they swap BI for another high priced player, say KAT or Donovan Mitchell, CJ is likely gone. But if they turn BI into a $30 million or less player instead of a near $50 million player, CJs money isn't the biggest deal in the near term.

I certainly would not make that bet, and I'm one of the more pro Dyson people here.

CJ has been disappointing when he's been asked to be #2, but he's been amazing when all you ask him to do is shoot and score off ball. You might let him go for money reasons at some point, but if the difference between one of the best 3 point shooters in the league, and a disappointing 3 point shooter is having enough play making depth, maybe we should try to add more play making depth before throwing out the baby with the bath water.
To me the biggest dilemma with CJ, assuming the money/tax doesn't force the team's hand, is Hawkins. I think Trey needs to take CJ's place in the starting lineup, and by next trade deadline at the latest you probably need to trade CJ to get Hawkins minutes if you have any hope of him developing.

the same advanced stats that say he's about as good as Herb?
DRtg isnt some individual stat. It has a ton to do with who you're playing with and playign team defense.

I also used dbpm. He was barely below league average. Again. Not good awful.
Still waiting on the god awful defense cj stats

It matters less when you're literal best player and facilitator is out and your 2nd best player is coming back from injury and playing like asswater.
