Does God, Faith & Eternity Matter, Today?

According to Christianity, God is a Triune Spirit: the Father is the Head, the Son is the living Word, and the Holy Spirit is the Breath (life-giving Spirit) of God. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you're adopted and become a new creation (born again)!
Some Christians believe If you've been chosen (received the Holy Spirit of adoption), you have eternal security. Because He will not and can't ever leave you!
A popular belief in Christianity is the resurrection of the dead. One Bible Scripture reads in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, "13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
Whether you believe in a divine being such as God or not, the thought of life after death and eternity can be very comforting. Especially after living a hard life here on earth. But does a candidate's beliefs matter enough to sway your vote for or against them?

Well done IWV.
This election definitely is infused with religious and atheistic overtones of all shapes and sizes.
Freedom of Religion is on the line.

that's assuming 'life' will be better after death. this may be as good as it gets as you might come back reincarnated as something's dinner.
. so cherish the little time you have left in the mortal realm.

Well, Christians believe in Heaven (Paradise) where there's only peace, joy, love and happiness. That's very comforting!

This is the Political Talk board. Your question about whether religious faith in God matters today is about as far from politics as I can imagine. If this board was moderated according to the rules, this thread would be deleted.
You know the answer to your question: God Faith and Eternity matter to those individuals who choose to make such things a part of their lives. To those who don't believe in God, Faith or Eternity, then, those things don't matter.
It matters to those who want it to matter. To the others, it doesn't matter.
I don't like these religious threads on PT. They belong over on the OT.

More so now than ever before, but I also don’t deceive myself into believing that translates into perfection, righteousness, or even a deep level of commitment. However, it does give me hope that there is a God conscience, and doing wrong will bother him much more so than someone who makes up their own definitions of right and wrong to suit them, puts finger in the wind to gauge what others think is right and wrong, or none at all. Someone who is adamant in their adherence to traditional Judeo-Christian definitions of morality, and is unashamed of it will get my vote over someone who is not. It demonstrates they have a compass and a rudder, and to stand up against current ever changing trends shows leadership.

This is what started me on the path back. The eternal life.
My mom died a terrible death from cancer and she was the most wonderful mother in the world. Like all of yours I’m sure.
That’s not the end for her. It absolutely cannot be. She was a jr high teacher and impacted thousands of lives over her 35 year career. She was afaithful Christian.
And, I want to see her again. And Jesus promises a perfect eternity.

The Neo/Cultural Marxists can exist in a nation with a predominant Christian society, Christians will not be tolerated in a nation with a predominant Neo/Cultural Marxist society.

Those who think religion is a trivial and unimportant matter are woefully deceived. It is part of a larger world and life view that is the paradigm for how one understands and interprets reality, including discernment of truth and morality, and how one acts within this world.
No one is neutral.

The "Christ" Meme is the MOST Powerful Viral Thought in Human History for a reason.
Social Proof continues to show this to be true.

My condolences for your loss. But she's definitely in a better place resting in God's loving arms!
1 Corinthians 15:51-58Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Very good point. And Christ's birth, life and death definitely changed politics and the entire world.
