No it isn't. It isn't done for the most part though.
for me, I can't make the best decision for my daughter or family members when they are sick. I let their own doctors do that.
Will I call in meds for them? Sure. But I won't treat them in the long term.

It's not illegal but is suggested against by the AMA. It is definitely not appropriate to write scripts for controlled substances for themselves and/or family members.
