I think losing Iron Man and Captain America hurt.

They were driving the Avengers story line. Also RDJ’s willingness to do the roll a million times to tie everything together.

SpiderMan will almost always out butts in the seats.

Thor, BB2 and Guardians made good money. (760m, 859m and 845m) they expectations that every single
Marvel movie should make a billion dollars is really why these movies are perceived as unsuccessful.

Dr Strange also made just under a billion. It's really antman and the Marvels that tanked, but things aren't as bleak as people make it seem. Most studios will kill for these types of numbers.

and i would add that killing off black widow killed off a great place they could go with expanding her character.

the most watched and wanted heros were all removed, they went all girl power rules the world, and killed off the only likeable female audiences cared about in black widow, all because she wasnt girly enough for the simps, and now they wonder why nobody cares about marvel movies any more

Thor's a weird situation.

After Dark World, I imagine that the third movie would have tanked if it hadn't gotten really good reviews and skewed a bit more towards humor.

Unfortunately, Ragnarok's success is exactly why Taika was given free reign over Love and Thunder... which is why it sucked.

Thor still has lots of potential (being the only original Avenger still headlining movies), but only if they find that balance that worked in Ragnarok (and stop giving Thor the exact same story arc every movie).
