It seems like GenX was really the last generation with a lot of smokers. I have a kid in HS and don't really see it at all among the younger folks. Some of them vape and weed is pretty common, but not cigarettes.

I'd be willing to bet over 50% of us smoked in HS, or maybe I'm just trashy

Vaping is probably better described as wildly popular among teens. Nicotine and THC

Yeah I don't see 16-21 year olds smoking like in years past . In the 80s it was more prevalent. I never smoked, but my wife was a smoker when I first met her and she was 18 when we first met and was not shy about it either. So about 1986. But a lot of people smoked, especially women, all her friends smoked, her younger sister smoked, her mother smoked.

I don't know if it was 50%, but it was a lot. They got rid of the student designated smoking areas before I got to high school, but it was still well used.
