Would you pay $185k for a fixer upper in a town with high crime where whites are 30% of the population and there's high poverty?

Government is to blame for all of these problems. Poor policies, uncontrolled spending, unnecessary wars, terrible policies on crime and drug use. Thats why we are in the situation we are in.

Remember when you were preaching “nuance” earlier in this thread and now you are doing “if you don’t want to move across the country to a poor area with high crime in a flip house then you will never be satisfied” bit
And you still haven’t figured out that you are literally proving the entire point of the thread with every house you post
It’s unbelievable

You would purchase and home and raise a family in an area that has crime rates that are double the national average?
Posted on 5/7/24 at 4:01 pm to Salmon
always an excuse, never good enough. poor us, we'll never make it out of the poverty bestowed upon us by our ancestors.

How have you still missed the point after 30 pages?

Conflating not wanting to live in a high crime area with claiming victimhood is quite the connection.

again, Durham, which is one of the top cities in America for millennials, has a higher crime rate. so i'm actually doing you a favor...

The sad thing is he's proving the point he's trying to argue.
Let's say a recent college graduate gets a job in Durham, NC making $60k, he can barely afford a fixer upper in a minority town with high crime and that's only if he had no student loans, car loans, etc. as well as $5k or so for a down payment and good credit.

C’mon man. You can’t suggest a fixer upper because that’s not exactly what mama and daddy bought back in ‘82. Be real.

They definitely weren't paying $185k for fixer uppers.
That's the point that you seem to be missing.

LMAO average accountant salary is $61k in Durham. Recent college graduate accountant is going to be making $45k in Durham. Source

Can’t believe y’all are still going at it with some of these dudes. They’re caricatures of out of touch geezers repeating the same tired tropes. “You’re telling me it’s impossible for the rich millennials to get a mortgage on a shed anywhere on earth? How about this magnificent 700 sqft house in South Sudan?!? Keeping living with your parents!!!”
Posted on 5/7/24 at 4:11 pm to DrrTiger
I think the funniest part of this thread is that younger generations are the one’s buying these homes because it’s what available.
So even their narrative that millennials won’t make the necessary sacrifices is false

Too much lead poisoning from the pipes in all those great starter homes went right to his brain.

I’m not missing anything, but it’s amusing to see you crybabies pick apart every reasonable suggestion and why it’s not gooooood enough.

They’re also talking down to a bunch of millennials who seem comfortable with their own financial situations but just happen to have enough awareness and empathy to feel for people who are disproportionately affected by stagnant incomes and rising costs.

whoa, i'm not disagreeing that any housing today is exponentially more than any housing in the past. i'm just proving that it's not impossible to find a house today.
no one has given me any set criteria, they just want to make excuses as to why things aren't good enough for them.
