is a 190k for 30 year old apartment, reasonably priced?
In that area, yes.
Why not? Too small? Too old? What?
You telling me a recent college grad working in downtown Houston wouldn’t want that place if he wanted to live in that area? I didn’t say it was for everyone, but it’s for him/her. Just like a welder or plant operator would want to live out in Baytown or near Galveston.

Your hypothetical new grad would 100% be better off renting for $1400 a month than buying that little 30 year old apartment at that price.

I actually do fine for myself but was extremely fortunate in some ways. My wife and I don't have kids yet and thankfully, we didn't start our family before covid. I'm recognizing, however, that a lot of other people are screwed but typical boomer logic. If it doesn't impact me, I'm not worried about it.
Just because I managed to do well doesn't mean it's not b/s for a ton of people.

it's also not the expensive part of the city, but he keeps acting as though he's doing people a favor with that real estate find.

Ahh. So now the “starter home” has to be in the “expensive part” of the city.
Any other totally reasonable qualifiers you want to add?

can you please go find anything else to do? there isn't a single post you've made that isn't a strawman. you're braindead.

Know why the expensive part of the city is expensive? Maybe people don't want to live in the "cheap" part of town where all the shootings, robberies, failing schools, drug traffic, assaults, break-ins, etc occur.

You know you lost the conversation when all of your posts are just massive strawmen

You might want to come up with an approach other than throwing insults when you don’t make logical sense. You come across as very juvenile.

the boomers' entire point has been that millennials can get ahead if they simply don't made imprudent financial decisions while continually telling us reasonable real estate can be had like this condo that's appreciably worse than just renting for the next decade.

Dude you've been outright denying mathematical proof that your opinion is wrong all thread long. You've made about as much logical sense as trans pussy.

individuals make dumb decisions, like whoever bought that place and has been trying to sell it for 34 days.
someone can find cheaper rent within blocks of that place in a very similar living conditions, if not nicer.

The smarter option would be to rent.
That apartment is a financial black hole.

That is such a poor financial decision for someone looking to purchase their first property that I am pretty convinced that you are trolling.

Millennials: Housing is cost prohibitive at this point.
Boomers: Well, if you would make better financial decisions, you could afford a home.
Also Boomers: Look at this great financial option of a 500 sqft apartment for $190k! Your mortgage will only be higher than rent in surrounding areas, along with HOA fees, oh, and you will never recoup any of the money you put into it because it is an aging apartment that is surrounded by newer property.

My personal favorite is "save up and buy your home in cash" guy.
Need a vehicle? Pay cash
Need a home? Pay cash
Having a baby? Pay cash
Sure thing, since it's so easy to save up 300k. Just stop buying starbucks and you'll be able to do these things..............in 78 years........maybe.

See, this is why you guys aren’t taken more seriously. Yes, you have some legitimate gripes, but you exaggerate it to such a degree that it’s hard to garner sympathy.
Is your argument that no realistic properties exist for a millennial family that isn’t 500 square feet and in the hood? Yet somehow, we don’t have millions of homeless millennials begging for food at every street corner. How is that possible?

Depends on what you're looking for. It very well could be.
If that isn't in your price range, there is definitely something available that is.

2/3 1146sf $154k
more...
2/2 1096sf $185k
more...
2/2/980sf $160k This one has actually doubled in price since 2012. But there's no equity to be made i'm told.
all these places, great areas of houston... zero murders in this area on the homicide map from 2023.
but i'm told there's NOTHING
