Laugh, but I didn’t make any of that up lol

It was a close fight. Erceg had that nice elbow, but it's his own fault he didn't put in more work--especially the many times he had Pantoja backing up. Pantoja equaled his output and mixed in head, body, and takedowns/ground work. The eye test favored Pantoja, who was much more aggressive and controlled most of the action.

Erceg's own corner thought he lost damn near every round.

Exactly. Pantoja was a bloody mess. If he won that fight, then he'll never lose a fight again. Last time he held Royval down the whole fight, did hardly any ground-and-pound and got the win. Now he gets his face all bloodied, scores a bunch of takedowns but does minimal damage / hardly any ground-and-pound and gets the win. So how are you supposed to win against this guy?

All of which resulted in minimal damage. But sure, he “mixed things up”

The judging would have been really interesting if Erceg had kept it standing up in the 5th and continued to land on Pantoja. Would Pantoja still have won in Brazil? 49-46? Home cooking in Brazil.

We can all agree, DC sucks. He gets way too excited about even the smallest advantage by a fighter. "He's on the neck!" Then the guy easily gets out of the position.

This about sums up the decision:

It's decisions like that in the ultimate FIGHTING championship that just set such a bad precedent for what up & coming fighters need to do(or not do) to win. And they'll do it because their pay is on the line. It is going to cause more lackluster fighters & and fewer stars in the sport. Need to see damage actually get rewarded. #Rantover #UFC301

I thought Pantoja won the fight but it was close. Erceg fricked himself going for stupid takedowns.
I also don’t think using cuts as a scoring mechanism is a great idea. Some people cut easy. Some people are very difficult to cut.

Yeah the outrage over this is laughable. Plenty of fights to point to, last night's fight wasn't one of them. Could have gone either way.

I could get some of the outrage if Pantoja was ever hurt but dude never even got wobbled.
