People who pay for news think they're more important than people who don't really care

I noticed all the people at my workplace that pay for Apple News are usually kiss asses. Try to use terminology like referring to an increase in 1% and say instead an increase of 100 basis points (I want to strangle anyone who ever calls 1% 100 basis points), way too try hard. I went to a top 10 US university and can't stand try hards. It's much more effective to communicate where everybody understands than trying to sound specialized. Another one is instead of calling it debt % or leverage %, they call it "Gearing percent". Another one is instead of calling it an unprofitable venture, they refer to it as "out of the money" like it's an option. These people make me want to slap them and tell them they aren't as special as they think they are.
To me paying for news is very dumb. Yahoo, plenty other places have it for free. Knowing what's happening in Ethiopia or Croatia has 0 effect on your life. It doesn't make you smart. It doesn't make you worldly. I can figure out federal interest rates for $0 as to what Apple News charges. It's like paying to breath air when it's free all around you.

I'm specifically thinking of a 23 year old who would shine the shoes of the boss and pick up his laundry with 0 hesitation if asked, and another 50 year old guy.
They sit at all times, 24/7 at work, with 0 arch in their back I and other coworkers noticed. Like they're trying so hard all the time that they even want the bosses to be impressed with their back posture. I'm being serious. They look like robots when they move their arms with a completely straight spine.

Now I’m embarrassed about my TD premium account
I honestly get half or more of my news alerts from this forum

I pay $6 a month for a sub to MarketWatch, Barron’s and Wall Street Journal combined. I am under no illusion or delusion that I am better than anyone else. They have articles I enjoy reading and find informative for $0.20 per day. They have a lot more relevant content for me than Yahoo (which I also read, along with TMZ and PageSix). I realize people like you think I am dumb for doing it, but wasting the $0.20 a day it’s worth it to me.
You must work in finance if your co-workers are talking about those topics .I have never heard a co-worker talk about basis points or many of those other terms, but I did not go to a top 10 university.

Or call either one a "handle". It's not a half gallon of liquor for F's sake.
