Anecdotally as someone who left the UMC, most of the churches they lost were smaller churches that weren't big money printers anyway.

Do you have any statistics to support that?

I know in the Louisiana Conference they lost the largest church in the state ( congregation wise) - St. Timothy in Mandeville.

There were some large UMC that left too...I know I was a member at one and there have been many others....Also even though a lot of UMC still remain a lot of members have left and taken their money with them...Got news...the 50 plus folks give much more than the younger folks do..

The UMC is hurting financially...due to the losing of memberships. There are a lot of things going on within the UMC....The powers that be within the UMC have been shocked at the uproar this has caused....Believe me.
