I mean that would be for the league to decide IF the players would agree to it. Unfortunately for the colleges, the players actually hold all the power here. They just don’t realize it yet. If all the top players refused to play college football that little “rule” the NFL has about drafting players out of high school would be home instantaneously. Sure, they may not give the players the same contracts right out of high school as the currently do for players out of college, but you can rest assured they’d be drafting them just like the do in every other sport. These top players would just spend a season or two on the practice squad then move over to officially on the Sunday team roster.

I don’t have an issue with the current system. There is nothing in place that keeps coaches from moving from job to job every year. Why should the people who actually do the real work that makes the money be any different?

it’s not a “rule” they just made up, it’s part of the collective bargaining agreement with the players association and has been challenged and upheld in court.

Yes there is. It’s called a contract. There are buyout clauses and things like that which have to be satisfied to move on.
