I mean, it is different.
Insurrections require an effect on government. These campuses, even if public, have no government authority to alter.
These are just your typical leftist protests/riots that have been going on since Civil Rights Era protests and Boomer hippies protesting Vietnam. They're not changing anything.
*ETA: for smoothbrains. I don't support either of these "protests" and think they're all dumb. That doesn't mean there aren't fundamental differences in an insurrection (which did not happen on J6) and political protests.

Yes, you're correct. These pro Hamas riots are far more violent and destructive. This is what Communism is.

Was it really an insurrection on Jan 6 ? I don’t think the people had any intention to overthrow government. If they did they would have brought weapons. It was basically fed up people protesting election integrity that got lured into the capitol by people like ray epps .

Those "boomer" hippies sowed their "seeds" into the psyche of society years ago and are now "reaping" what they sowed. It is now time to bring in the tillers and turn the "harvest" into mulch!!

They’re funded by democrats, how do they not have a connection to government?

Absolutey textbook liberal response. Confront with precedent, get a diversion.

Using this logic, neither did any of the protests on January 6. What effect on government would it have to occupy the congressional chambers? Just because you occupy one building (admittedly an important one) of one of the three branches of government does not mean you control things. To use your words, you have no government authority. It's not like the occupiers could submit a bill to the executive branch for signature, and the military will not recognize any authority from the occupiers. Even if the occupiers could find a quorum in both houses and force them to vote on a bill, and then a supposedy rogue executive branch signed said bill, the supreme court would strike it down immediately.
